Get a yorkie since you already have a maltese. I wouldn't go the "designer dog" route |

I've got a Maltese and if she were younger, I'd get a Yorkie. Next time I plan on getting one of each. Of course, Maltese are so wonderful, you can't go wrong with another one. You'll learn a lot here about Yorkies (which is why I joined :) ) so hopefully you'll find out if the breed is right for you. I have a number of friends who have Yorkies and there is a big difference in personalities. Yorkies are terriers and feistier and actually were bred to do something. Maltese were never bred to hold down a job and would spend their life on your lap. I know many people who have both have described them as much needier than Yorkies. I am usually in favor of adopting adult dogs, but at eleven months, your baby is the perfect age to add another puppy. I think either a Yorkie or Maltese puppy would be fun. I wouldn't get a designer mutt, though. I don't believe in supporting that whole industry. |
I had a maltese years ago, she was sweet, but very needy, the yorkies are sweet, but, can get a little nasty at times, and the morkies(well, I love those)..my mom has one and my one sister has 2, my nephew has one, and they are the most sweet loving dogs..I think they tend to have the maltese personalities..or, I should say those 4 do anyway..in the end, the choice has to be made by you..go with your heart.. |
I saw you're in IL..My sister is in IL, she used to breed the morkies, but, hasn't done it for about 4 years now.. |
I love the maltese personality, I had one for many years but I love the yorkie. I have 3 and they all have charming individual personalities. Good Luck choosing. |
The term "mutt" generally refers to a dog of unknown descent. This is why the morkie isn't a mutt..:) They really are a sweet and really cute dog too..wish I had pics of my sisters 2, you would fall in love! |
I agree with hha. Go with your heart. Meet a few puppies and if your like me your heart will know almost right away which puppy to choose. :) |
aaaaawwwww guys thanks so much you have been wonderful help |
I think any would be a good choice as long as its a good fit for your family. congratulations on your decision to add another one. I just looked up Mutt out of curiosity and this is what I found cur: an inferior dog or one of mixed breed |
I don't know where you looked, but a morkie is NOT a mutt, as there are 2 breeds in one, and you know what the breed is..when you don't know what the breed is(there are too many breeds in it), then it's considered a mutt! A morkie is a sweet little dog, believe me, I've been around quite a few of them! You get the best of both breeds! In the end it's this persons choice as to which breed they get, but, all 3 are great dogs...:) |

It is just a definition, it doesn't mold our opinions |
I was referring to whoever it was that wrote the morkies were a mutt...do they not know that the yorkie has maltse in it..? A maltese is the only dog that was never bred with another dog to get the purebred.. |
Since you are on YT..I would think most would say get a yorkie..at least thats what I say lol...yorkies are awesome!! As with any breed there are good and bad points but hmmm I just cant think of anything bad about Reece and Soleil...they are pure perfection in my eyes!! Dawn |
