two different purebreds that produce a litter of cross-bred dogs still makes the puppies a mutt. A mutt is a mixed breed dog whether it has a thousand breeds in it's lineage or two breeds. And "designer dogs" have always been around because of unresponsible owners...just no one called them the silly names that the mixes have today and sold them for so much money. A mixed breed is a mixed breed no matter it's lineage. Like I said before, doesn't make them any less of a dog. If I came across a cute maltese/yorkie mix in a rescue I might just adopt it, but I would never buy one from a breeder...I don't support unethical breeding

Purchasing from backyard breeders, pet shops, and puppymills perpetuates the suffering of other dogs.
Educate yourself and buy from reputable breeders or rescue.
