| I am a little aggravated with my vet's office right now. I just called a little bit ago because I hadn't heard anything Sunday from them and nothing yet this morning. The lady answered the phone and I asked her about Max. She said she had just got there so had to go ask the vet how Max was. She came back and said, "He's doing really well. He's had all his medicine (I'm guessing she was talking about the antibiotics) but hasn't gone poop yet. We're watching for him to do that to make sure he isn't going to have the bloody diarrhea. Dr. Kennedy thinks he might be able to go home Wednesday." I said, "Uh, Wednesday?" She said, "Yeah. We really need to see him poop before we can release him." I got off the phone and sat there for a minute thinking. First off, he isn't getting any food so how is he going to poop anytime soon? I decided to call back and ask a few more questions. I got a different lady this time and she had to go back and talk to the vet again. (At this point I'm wondering why he doesn't just come and get on the phone with me. I live in Timbucktoo and he's just a little country vet and isn't ever just super busy. He really should of come talk to me himself.) She comes back and says that Max still has the IV in and the vet thinks probably Wed. morning he'll take it out. The lady Saturday told me Monday morning he'd probably get it out. He hasn't ever had any diarrhea and hasn't vomitted this weekend. She's speaking to me like I am a child and I'm getting pretty aggravated with this at that point. She says, "This isn't something to take lightly. If he were to go home right now and develope the diarrhea he would die. We need to watch him and make sure he doesn't get any worse. He could still be contagious so anything he comes in contact with would get sick too. The Dr. said it isn't going to be that much more ($) to keep him through Wednesday as opposed to him going home right now." I ask her how much more are we talking. She looks in the computer to see if any of the charges have been put in. Not all of them have, but she won't even tell me how much the total is at this point. She asked did he give me an estimate when I brought Max in. He had told me it would be about $450 but he was talking about 3, maybe 4 days at that point. She says, "Well it won't be much more than that." I said, "I understand this is serious. I don't think it's just a broke toenail. But I can only afford to pay what I can pay." She says, "I'm sure if you need him to he can break it down into two payments." (Oh, how generous) The conversation ended with her saying they would call me tomorrow to tell me how Max was. I fully understand how serious Parvo is. I also understand the vet wanting to make sure that Max is 100% before he goes home. But I'm aggravated at their lack of communication and I'm also ticked that the vet himself didn't feel the need to come talk to me. (Again, we live way out in the country, I know him on a greater level than just as my vet. He's good friends with my neighbor and does all his work for him with his cows. He's been out to my house to do stuff with my horses as well.) We aren't made of money and this is obviously something that was not factored in to the budget this month. My husband is not happy with what this will probably cost and though he does not wish Max any harm, he does see him as just a dog, not one of the kids. He has his limits for how much he sees necessary to spend on a pet. I wouldn't be so worried about it all except that the vet acts like Wednesday would just be the earliest Max could come home, but it very well could be longer. I feel a little bit like I might be being taken some. I don't think the vet is purposely keeping Max just for the money, but that maybe he's being a little overly cautious for monetary reasons. And I don't KNOW that, I just feel like that a little, maybe because they haven't been so great with communication and won't just tell me straight out exactly what's going on. Sorry for the long post. Just a little stressed right now. Thanks again everyone for your care and positive thoughts!

| Have you asked your vet if you can come and visit? When Lida was in they let me come and see her daily, said it was good for both of us. We live ina small town too. The best thing is he is doing better and is recovering. Go and talk to your vet in person - it will make you feel better. |

| Perhaps your vet is a bit busier than normal today - as it is Monday & many people hold off over the weekend before going to the dr. Or perhaps he is in surgery. I know you are anxious, but you do want to bring home a healthy Max. It would be so much worse, and more costly if you bring him home too soon & he has to be re-hospitalized. Did you ask to speak directly to the vet?? I know if I called for my vet, I most likely would have to wait for him to return my call. I can't imagine he's keeping Max to make money - they wouldn't add up to much. Keeping you & Max in my prayers. I'm sorry it is taking so long to see the results of the treatment

| Max sure is a cute little thing. I will keep you and him in my prayers. I know first hand how hard it is to deal with a sick little one like that and it feels awful. They sure do wrap themselves around your heart quickly don't they! God, please bless this puppy and his mom. Please make Max strong and well again. Amen. |

| I guess what's so aggravating is that they don't seem to want to give much information. You have to ask and pry it out of them. I just get the, "He's doing great!" but yet he has to stay for three more days, or longer. Tell me specificlly what's going on with him! I could go and see him but when I left him Friday, I was left with the impression that they don't really encourage visitors. The vet said, "We don't tell you that you CAN'T come visit them, but it's really best if you don't. We like to keep them calm when they're in their cage." Yorkiesmiles, I didn't ask specificly to speak with the vet. I was kind of thinking since the lady on the phone wasn't able to answer many of my questions without putting me on hold and going to ask him that she would offer to let me speak with him. I would of been more than happy to wait for him to call me back. I know he's not purposely holding Max to make the extra money. They just aren't being real informative and it makes you feel like you're being taken advantage of. It also makes you angry because you just want to KNOW what's going on with your baby.

| I feel your pain hope your lil max recovers soon. I know that if you visit with him everyday, they won't feel alone and may help with the recovery.

| Iam so sorry things are still bad for you & max, will continue to pray for you both, I know it must be so hard to be away from him, but it must be for the best, I to think the vet should have at least talked with you.

| I'm still getting caught up with all the threads from when I was out of town. I'm so sorry to read about Max's parvo I also would go see my baby if I wanted to. It would help you to actually see him. If that's not possible - then I'd leave a message for the vet to call me. If I hadn't heard by 3:00 that day, I'd call back every 30 minutes until I got him on the phone - but that's just me and I'm not a patient person When my children were very little we lost a puppy to parvo and it wasn't pretty. He was at the vet's a week and suddenly took a turn and we lost him. I'll be praying for you and Max.
