| Sergeant Pepper screams all night... I'm on the edge of my rocker with this... Sarge wil scream and cry all night if we dont come get him. We live in an apartment, so noise is a no no, especially at 2,3,4, and 5am. He has all his toys with him and he doesn't need to go to the bathroom, he just wants us to come cuddle him to sleep. I don't know what to do to stop this. I've even been waking up once in the middle of the night to go take him out to see if thats what it was. But no luck. Is he just so spoiled rotten that he thinks he should be sleeping with us? If he was completely potty-trained I'd allow this, but until then. NO WAY. Any advice? Thanks.

| Can you put him in a crate or xpen in your room? Maybe if he knows you're there he'll feel better.

| Mine have slept in bed with me from day one so I am no help to you....is this an option for you??? Dawn I also wanted to add...mine have NEVER had an accident in our bed...they seem to know its THEIR bed too and dont want to soil it?? You could always give it a whirl..make sure you have a good mattress cover just in case though.. Last edited by sweetr72; 10-01-2007 at 01:47 PM. |

| I think I'll try that... If the crate in my room doesnt work, in bed with me he goes. Thanks for the posts guys, I'll let you know how it goes...

| I think the crate in the room is a great idea -- BUT -- if he's still carrying on once he's in the room, try covering the crate with a pillow case or cloth so that he can't see out. It has a miraculous calming effect on puppies (like when you cover a bird's cage at night). This worked when Archie was a noisy little pup and I still cover his crate out of habit now.

| I have a bedtime routine with Pixie..and she has gone through the night in her crate from the very first night we brought her home...maybe we are just lucky but i think they are like human babies and need routine. once she quietens down in the evening i have a little grooming session on my lap then i let her fall asleep on my lap and once she is very sleepy i then move her to her bed in her crate and cover the crate with a blanket so its all draught free and cosy. This seems to work for us and she will go through from 10.30-11pm till i get up at 6.45am. I have never let her get too used to sleeping on me for too long...which was very hard as i just wanted to nurse her constantly when i first got her! I didn't want her to become to clingy..she would push her luck at first...she was trying me out i suppose ...and would get straight back out of her bed and stand and stare at me...i would ignore her and she would be really tired and would get back in and go to sleep again after a few minutes, and now she gets in her bed in her crate all by herself as if she's telling ME its bedtime!

| He didnt cry last night!!! I moved the crate to my room and he didn't make a single whine. He did have a little accident in his crate, but I blame that on daddy for not taking him out when he got up. He got in bed with me for our afternoon nap, and woke me up with puppy kisses to go outside. What a change in one night!

| Hi .. i feel your pain... My baby is 5 months old and was crate trained from day 1. Mommy wanted to cuddle one weekend and took her to bed. Well now miss Maggie expects it. She sleeps for a while in her crate then starts crying around 1 am..... So I give in and take her to bed with me. They do get real spoiled really fast. Maggie had her first grooming session at a pet shop last weekend. I had to leave her for 2 hours (with great difficulty). When I picked her up she looked like a princess. I asked " how was she ?" thinking she was a brat. They couldnt believe how well behaved she was !!!! I had to ask .. " are you shure this is MY Maggie ????" LOL I think they know who they can win with ... Like her vet said TOUGH LOVE mommy !!!! |
