| Otis and Oliver sit in the front room window. If Otis see's something he thinks I need to come check out, (kitty, mailman, neighbor, leaf) he comes to whatever room I'm in and "tells" me about it. This consists of growls and whines. It's just about the cutest thing I've ever seen and of course, I really get him goin by asking him what it is, is it a kitty?

I can relate my Tinkerbelle is the same way, she becomes a totally different dog when she sees another dog when we are out walking. She thinks she is a rotweiller. She does play growl as well. j

| Zoe playfully growls when we're playing or when we're trying to take the ball from her...I think it's the most cutest growl ever....totallly different than the kinda growl she gives when a stranger approaches our house. |

| Xena growls when we play fetch. I'll throw the ball and she'll chase after it growling the whole way. Sometimes at night she gets this burst of energy and she'll run in circles around the house growling the whole time, it's so cute!

| Tobey growls when we play and sometimes will bark too, but his tail is wagging ferociously the whole time! I try to discourage the growling and barking if it gets excessive, mostly because I just don't think it sounds very respectful- I kinda take the attitude of "don't bark at me, I am your mommy!" so sometimes if he gets too crazy and carried away, I will turn away from him and he gets the message immediately because he will usually run in front of me and do a "down" as if he is saying "okay mom, I will be good now. Look! I did a down! I am a polite pup again!"

| Mine only growls when he is being a little stinker and trying to get my attention to play with him if I am engaged in some other non-Archie-involved activity. I call it his "sassing" because he also does it sometimes when I have scolded him and he still wants to be bad -- BUT -- he does this growl with a twinkle in his eye, like a teasing thing. He is not aggressive with his growl.
