| Good Growling I was reading the threads about growling, which led me to ask this question: Does anyone have a dog that growls but is obviously not upset, afraid, or nasty? Kalina growls. When I come home from work she goes nuts from the time she first hears my car coming down the street until I am in the house. She is so happy to see me, but she growls. She growls the entire time I am petting and kissing and hugging her. She doesn't bite. She's non-aggressive (In fact, I would say she is very passive) but she is growling the entire time she is wagging her tail and kissing me and having spasms of happiness. She also growls when we play together, but she never bites or acts ferocious. Does anyone else have a dog like this? She's 5 months old and a growling/kissing fool.

| Dogs do growl in a friendly manner, there is a definate difference between play/excitment growling and agressive growling. |

| Growling Hi y'as, Roufianna now 10 mos. and about 6.25 lbs. will play growl when having a tug of war. She will also turn into a pit bull when she sees another dog that she can't get close enough to play with. She actually turns into a different dog. Its scary! I tell her no and pick her up but she is in fight mode and persists until we move away from the animal or it from us. Is this normal? |

| Sure!! Luna will "tell" me everything she needs with that little growl!! She will come and do it, and as I ask her Really?? and what else?? did your brother make you all that?? and she will keep "talking" like that... Sometimes, when she is hungry she will tell me, and she will raise the tone if I don't listen, until she may finish barking to tell me she is not joking, she is hungry, or thirsty... And some people thinks dogs only would need to talk to be like people... Well, my dog, talks!!!

| Milli is the most "Talkative" dog I've ever met...she is always growling, barking, and talking...it's strange, I know it's because she's trying to communicate something-that she wants something, or that she feels a certain way. She's so vocal-she growls, purrs, barks, whines, and kind of chatters-and she is a very friendly dog. She's never been the least big aggressive toward anyone-the only "mean" growl was at another dog that got to close to me, and it was more of a warning-short and well said by Milli!

| My Aira growls when she's excited or playing. She likes to follow us around the house and when we are walking down the stairs she growls at every step. She loves tug-of-war games and growls during these but has never bitten our hands while playing these games even if they are right by her mouth. I would also say Aira is a submissive / passive dog. |

| Chip growls all the time! When he and daddy play he growls like a pyscho and play bites daddy's hand! Chip will run up to us with his toys growling and prancing, then when we go to grab for it, he growls and runs away.

| When I was raising puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind inc, they referred to it as play growling. Annie does this when she is excited. It is so odvious(sp) that is not aggresive. Its a here I am, here I am, Iam so excited & then she does this HAAAAAAA noise it is a total crack up. Truthfully I would much rather have this than the dogs that go nuts with the barking.

| Coby only barks and snorts. But Reggie, our Shi Tzu talks, which sounds like a growl. Usually, he's asking to go outside, for a treat, or for a pat on the head. It's different from his play growling. It's more like talking although it sounds like a growl. Sounds like that's what you have too.

| Play Growl !! Bogey growls when he is playing with you & a pull toy. He also growls when he gets an empty 12 can box of coke. He knows when he sees it, he's gonna get to play with it & will bark & growl while carrying it around for 30 min.
