| Litter Box Users...What works for you? Chewy is 100% trained to go in a litter box, with a pad inside. I have the large Purina box. The problem is, the normal size pads aren't quite big enough, Chewy likes to pee in the corners of the box (he sometimes squats, sometimes lifts his leg), and his pee always seems to go under the pad. What a mess! I have gotten bigger pads, tried to use several pads and layer them, but it always seems I end up with a mess. So, what works for you? If you do not have this problem, what size box do you use and what do you use inside, please be specific!! Does anyone use the small Purina litter box? Chewy is 4.5 pounds, would it be big enough for him? What size pad do you use in your box? Does it go up on the sides in case they pee on the sides? Do you use reusable ones? Sorry for all the questions! I am so proud that Chewy is trained, I just feel I need to figure out a better system. If and when I have someone watch him, I don't want it to so messy!

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I don't think the smaller size box will be large enough for him. I have the big one and the pads are not big enough either. Sometimes Bengi makes a little mess too. I use to put some tape in the corners so it wouldn't move, but know bengi doesn't move it anymore. There are some pads that are a little bigger but they are a lot more expensive. I get a 300 pack at ebay for like $35. |

| If you fill a pop bottle with water or sand for weight and put it in the middle of the pad they will pee on it and maybe not on the sides of the litter box. Just a thought.

Gizmo will stand on the pee pad and STILL pee on the carpet! So, I was going to try the litter box idea and was reading this for info. Great thread!! Thanks.

| Update.... Just wanted to update this thread. I did try the bottle in the center of the pad. He looked at it like, "What's this doing here?". I left it there for several days and he never peed on it, I think it forced him to go closer to the sides of the box. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, it just didn't work for him. Any other ideas? I keep thinking there has got to be a better system!

| Oh I feel your pain. I have the medium size boxes. The wee wee pads that I buy fit right inside the box. I have 3 boxes all in a row for my dogs to go potty. TJ is my male and he just loves to be lazy and NOT go all the way into a box to pee. He likes to just step his front feet into the box and pee down the sides or down the middle of two boxes. And the result: All the pee is under wee wee pad or on the floor. So, I have to line the floor under the boxes with wee wee pads - just to protect the floor. I have to clean the pee and the boxes daily. I have to changes wee wee pads ALL the time! It is EXTREMELY fustrating. I don't have ANY solutions for this. Let me know if you come up with one (hahahaha) |

Did you try wiping some urine (from a used pee pad) on it or taping a part of a used pee pad around it? Maybe some of that spray that helps them know where to go? Sorry it didn't work for you.

| I have 2 size boxes. One is a kitty litter box, and the other is a larger size box I bought from the Dollar store. I cut the front out of both of them, so Venus can step in. I'd bought waterproof crib pads off ebay, and cut them down, and finished the edges on a sewing machine. You can cut them down to any size you please that way. The excess I have when I put one in the box, I just push up the sides of the box. That helps keep the box clean. |

| Little bit, don't be sorry!!! I just have a timid little guy and I think the bottle kind of scared him a little. Those are great suggestions though, I'll try them!
