I have 2 size boxes. One is a kitty litter box, and the other is a larger size box I bought from the Dollar store. I cut the front out of both of them, so Venus can step in.

I'd bought waterproof crib pads off ebay, and cut them down, and finished the edges on a sewing machine. You can cut them down to any size you please that way.

The excess I have when I put one in the box, I just push up the sides of the box. That helps keep the box clean.
