| Tearing up the pad! Our new Yorkies (Romeo and Juliette) are 9 weeks old. We just got them a week ago. They are already using the pad 95% of the time, but Juliette started tearing it up yesterday. How do we prevent them from tearing up the pad? |

| Good question! My last litter did that. I did start listening better and when I heard the russle of the pad I would shake a tin can with coins and it worked. They have to be distracted. I only figured out to do this right before they went to their forever homes. Hopefully this new litter won't tear the pads up, but I'm prepared if they do.

| Wizdog Have you ever heard of the Wizdog? It's a tray that the puppy pad or even newspaper fits into. Then this fine grate goes over the top so that the dog can't tear up the pad. It works great. Here's a link to the web site where you can check it out. Easily rinses clean. http://www.wizdog.com/

| When I switched to the reusable/washable pads, I never had any more problems.

| My dogs wouldn't use the wizdog. I would recommend re-usable potty pads. I started with cloth diapers over a waterproof mattress pad. I ordered and received 10 re-usable waterproof cloth pads form valethics.com and they are truly wonderful. Well worth the money, as you will rack up a pretty penny in disposables pretty quickly. They wash up perfectly!! I have 2 boys that use them, I go through 1 a day. They truly are wonderful and very worth it. Do a search for valethics pads to see others on this forum who use them and like them. Also, they cannot shred them!!!!

| Hi Keri1973, I noticed from your signature that you have two cats and a Yorkie. How does your Yorkie get along with the cats? My cats are 8 years old. We got our Yorkie, Miles, 6 weeks ago and all he wants to do is bark at and chase the poor cats when he sees them. Now the cats hiss at him everytime they see him and he barks and gives chase. My one cat, Pooh, is in hiding most of her day, and I feel really bad becasue I love my cats too! Any suggestions would be appreciated. I tried a water gun and that worked for awhile, but I am beginning to think that they will never be in the same room together, and I was really hoping we could eventually become one big happy family. |

| My cats are 5 years old and when I got Harley (at 8weeks old), he would chase and try to play with them. They did not want any of that and would put up with it until they couldn't take anymore and would pop him up side the head and he would leave them alone for a while. They do not have their front claws so it doesn't hurt him. I think that they have bit him a couple times because he has yelled out. He is as big as them now and every so often he will try to stir them up to play with him and he loves if they chase him! But like I said they will put him in his place when they have enough. My kitties were here long before Harley so they rule the roost pretty much and he knows it. He just acts like that pain in the a&@ younger brother sometimes

| I also would always pretty much let them work it out on their own. When the cats have enough they can take care of themselves believe me!

| I gave up on wee wee pads a long time ago. There was more of a paper mess then if they just had an accident for me to clean up.
