| Puppy vs. Cats I'm running into a problem with my Winston. I have three cats, and he's so smitten with them, he wants to be with them all the time. I have his play area, complete with crate, food, water and litter box that I put him in when I cannot watch him, or during the day. He's gotten pretty good about not barking when he's in there, but as soon as he sees my cats walking around or playing themselves, he gets upset and wants to come out and play. Then the barking begins again. Since I'm not home all day I guess this is going on, on and off. Yesterday my roommate got so frustrated at his barking that he just let him out for hours un-supervised, and Winston tore up my house. (I was FURIOUS, and told him to NEVER do that again!!) How can I make Winston stop barking everytime he sees my cats and wants to play!? This is driving me crazy! Especially last night when I put him in his play pen at 4am after he woke up early. I CANNOT have him barking at 4am!!! |

| Can you keep the cats in a different part of the house or keep Winston in your room when you aren't home? Maybe work on it while you are home. Have him in the play area and when he starts barking you can reinforce that that's not supposed to happen. Or you can just bring Winston to my house - that will stop the barking all together.

| Well. I tried to lock my youngest cat Max in my room this morning after I realized that Winston wanted to play with him when he saw him...but Max sat by the door meowing because he wanted to be with Winston!!! I couldn't win!!! I either had a barking dog, or a meowing cat lol grrrr. This one will take some serious work. |

| Just a thought. Why don't you put the cat with him for a while before you leave so that they play with each other and then hopefully are tired when you leave.

| You know we were thinking about that. My cat seems to be a little slow though in figuring out how on earth to get OUT of the play pen. I almost threw him in there with him today as I left for work but decided that I should do it once when I'm home to see what the cat does and to make sure he can get out! |
