| ![]() I never could get Maggie to use the pads. She wants to go use outside bathroom. I always take her out on a retractable leash, and always to the same spot. I can almost set my watch with the time she will poo twice a day. If you use this method, take them to the bathroom spot, let out about 8-10 of leash, and keep you body put. They will pace back and forth and then it's showtime. Works everytime. Before we would take walks around the yard, but that was nothing but a scavenger hunt. Training her now to ring the bell on the door knob. I ask her if she need to PP, then tell her to ring the bell. She jumps up, hits the bell. I then clip her leash on and out we go.

| ![]() I have pads for Cookie, also, I use a large plastic toy box that I got from a hardware store. I fill it with cat litter and after she wakes up, pees on the pad, I put her into the what I call the poo-poo box and tell her to 'wee' (yeah, I know it sounds silly, but I can't bring myself to say poo-poo) and I tell her to 'stay' and I sit or stand close by and I don't let her out until she does one or she sits down and cries (which is her way of telling me that she doesn't want to do a poo) - if she does get let out of the litter box, I watch her or I call her to come to me and that way I can keep an eye on her so if she stoops, I pick her up immediately and place her into the box. I find this to be about 98% effective (I sometimes don't catch her in time and when I am taking her to the box, she can't hold on anymore) also, Cookie likes to have privacy so that is why I have the toy box as it has tall sides - she will on the odd occasion poo behind things or under them. I hope this helps ![]()

| ![]() I have noticed a couple of trends with 'Tini. First, she always pees on her pee pads. If her pee pads have too much pee on them, she will not poo on them. Also, she knows she is supposed to poo on the pads, but if she thinks I am not paying enough attention to her or I scolded her for bad behavior, she will poo in the living room. So, I try to make sure to change her pad at least once a day and then look for signs she is going to poop. Then I run her right to the pad. Knock on wood we are on a 3 day streak of pee and poo all on the pad. Not holding my breath......it sure is a challenge with Yorkies....but I knew this would be difficult from researching the breed. |

| ![]() Gucci doesn't poo and pee pad on the same pad. Is weird but she poos on a pad behind the TV and pees on a pad on the bathroom. She has being having some accidents lately thou. I think she is being lazy lately. She has being pooping or peeing on the floor on my hubbys side of the bed. Maybe she is telling daddy something, ![]() |

| ![]() I am so fortunate to have grass. I tried the pads, but Maggie thought they were disposable blankies. Wish she would use a pad, especially when it rains, or in the middle of the night. I suppose there are draw backs with both methods of training. Some don't have to get up in the middle of the night and I don't have to clean up the pad that Maggie is tearing up.

| ![]() Speaking of pads, Cooks rips hers up too as she is fond of having tissue paper in her mouth and will destroy a TP roll. She looks funny though as she runs away from me when she has a half eaten TP roll in her teeth. Also, she loves to tear the labels off plastic drink bottles - she just has a fascination with paper products. She also (and this is a bit embarrassing) fond of stealing my daughters panties ![]() ![]()

| ![]() I have also been using the simple solutions spray outside and that stuff most definitely works for pee. She is still pooing in her crate but after a couple of days she pees outside when she smells the spray. |

| ![]() Its so good to hear people going through the same thing. Penny will pee on her pad but has never pooped on it. She usually poops in the same room and I have tried putting a pad in there, but she goes in different spots and I have moved the pad all over. I have found she will poop outside before she will pee, but I have to walk her all over the place. I would rather have her pee outside, because she doesn't always use the pad and pees in all different place. I use Woolite pet stain and odor remover. It has a really nice smell to it and works well. I hope someone will comes up with a good solution for potty training. I have tried everything. Does anyone watch the Dog Whisper on NGC? Cesar is his name and I would love for him to come to my house. He is amazing at training dogs. ![]() |

| ![]() Penny, if you can be at home, the outside method works very well. Every hour during the day, and every two hours at night. Always on a leash, so they don't think it's playtime outside. Small treat when they go back into the house, but no treat or praise at night time trips. Night time trips are to be strictly business and back in very quickly. Have them sleep in their crates at night, beside your bed. Maggie is now 4 months old and housebroken. She now rings a bell that is hanging on the door knob, when she needs to go potty. It was not an easy job for two solid months, but if you don't slack off, you will have a potty trained baby in no time. Good Luck.

| ![]() I'm happy that I found this thread. I was getting desperate and also bought a training book. I'll see what happens now with using the seperate pads hopefully it eventually works. Please post any success stories. |
