Please Help! Hello everyone! I really need your help and feedback! I have been training my 12 week old Yorkie and he will pee on the wee wee pad but poop everywhere else! Can someone please tell me why that is and what I could possibly do to stop that???? I am getting so desperate, I don't know what to do anymore. I have put him in the bathroom with a section for his bed, another for his food and another for his wee wee pads and I have blocked the area off with a gate. But as soon as I let him out he will come and poop! And if he does poop in the bathroom its not on the wee wee pad! PLEASE HELP ME! |

Sophie is 18 weeks old and most of the time she will poop *wherever.* To be honest, I'd much rather her poop in the house than potty. It's easier to find and to clean :D But it can be frustrating, when we are so diligent to train and she seems poop-challenged. ;) Continue being consistent and she will gradually learn to poop on the pads, and you will see the light at the end of the tunnel :animal-sm |
I'm going through the same thing with Rams. I can even take him outside and he will pee, but the minute we get in the house he will poop. I even tried watching him and when he starts to squat picking him up and carring him to the pee pad then rewarding him after he has gone, and it doesn't work. If you find something out please let me know!! |

Wow at least I'm not going at this alone! I was honestly getting really depressed because I thought I was doing something wrong! I even brought 2 training books and still nothing! If anyone find anything out please let us all know! |
12 weeks is still very young many dogs will have accidents till they are a year or more old. And prepare for old age incontinence thats even worse than puppy pee and pooing because they don't even know they are doing it ;) |
I hope this works cause it worked for me.my girls poop-pees on the pad took a long time.but my male was really easy to train to pee on the pad,but never poop there.He had one specific place he would always poop,so instead of moving the poop to the pad and leaving it there all day and hope he goes there.I've decided to put a newspaper where he usually poop.It's alot easier to clean up.Sometimes they get it and sometimes you have to let them go where they want to go.It worked for my girls but not for my male.But they still have accidents. |

Now that she is bigger (14 weeks) I put down a fresh pad after she pees on it once. I also spray perfume where she has had an accident so she will not use the spot again. |
Sorry, girls!! Persistence & continuity are key to pad training!! Toto will be 2 years old next month and it's still a "celebration" every time she goes. :) If we miss a pee pee or poop, she comes and lets us know because she wants her treat and we figure, she's doing her part so we better do ours!! I know it gets frustrating and you want to give up, but don't ... some take several months before they fully get the idea, but they do get it!! Our little "angel brat" will even turn her little butt towards us so we can "blot" her pee pee with tissue!! She doesn't like her fur wet and we don't like to pick her up with pee pee on her!! ;) |
I am going through the same thing as well. What I do is I put pads where he likes to poop so then he will get used to going on the pad. I am hoping that once he gets used to going on the pad, I can move it back to where I originally had it. Try it out, it seems to have helped me. Good luck! |
Hey everyone! Bettyeanne is right! Persistence and continuity are the keys. I don't pee pad train. My pups go outside, but I have noticed that my dogs never pee and poo in the same place. We walk the yard, they pee. We walk the yard, they sniff sniff sniff and find a different place to poo. Usually they don't pee and poo in the same trip. So maybe use a one pad for pee and a pad for poo in a different place?? Yes its frustrating, but its worth it! Good luck! |
I agree with Cynthia. Our first Yorkie was trained to go outside in the daytime and nice weather. She had certain spots to make her deposits. She was trained to use the pads in our garage at night and in bad weather and it was the same in there as outside. She had her designated pee pads and her designated poop pads and you better put the pads where she wanted them, too. :D |
I have tried the pads in 2 different places and he just pees on both of them...and then goes and poops somewhere else...lol...I mop and spray the liquid so they can't smell where they went and he will just go in a differnt area...but he's getting a little better...so we will see. :( |
