Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() Read up on it here - there are so many great threads and advice. Also, ask the breeder how she is eliminating right now - is she in her own area, is she in one big area w/ other pups where they go potty wherever, is she using pads at all etc etc.

| ![]() My girl was easy to potty train. I started out training her to a tray with a potty pad, one in my bathroom and one in the laundry room. Everytime she went, I gave her a cookie, now she pees and poops when I go to the bathroom just to get another cookie. She will also pee on demand if I say Potty potty! It took about 3 weeks of consistancy, putting her in the try every hour during the day and once at night. Good Luck |

| ![]() I've always heard that too, but it really does depend on the dog, the method of training you use, and being able to devote lots of time in the beginning. I have been very lucky with mine, he was really easy to potty train. |

| ![]() I do think Yorkie's are a little hard to train. Mine sleep in a crate in the laundry room at night. I pull a blanket over the crates so it is darker and they are fine. If they are tired, I go to look for them when I'm going to bed and often find them back in their crates. When Savannah was a puppy, I took her out about every 1/2 hour, then spread to an hour, not it's every two hours. She can hold it a long time. The puppy is about 11 months old and she still has a lot of accidents if I get busy and forget the 2 hours is up. Neither one will go to the door or bark, so it's me that is trained! It's just one can hold it longer than the other one, so she has fewer accidents. I can tell Savannah go TT and she knows what I mean. If I tell her to go Poo poo, she knows what that means. I'm not sure Kayli has caught on to that yet, but I read somewhere that you should call it by name when they do it and then they will learn to do it on command. I have mostly hardwood and tile flooring, so it hasn't been a big problem. They usually go in the same spot in the dining room. Good luck. |

| ![]() I'm not sure who you were responding to, but I'll answer from my standpoint. Savannah went into heat at about 7 months. You should never breed a dog on their first heat. I waited until her second heat, which was about 7 months after that and then I bred her. I bred her to a Yorkie that was only CKC registered and I lost a sale of a puppy because she wasn't AKC. I didn't know any better when I bred her, but I do now. We just bred her again with an AKC Yorkie and I expect these puppies to be adorable. The male was just under 3 lbs. Normally Savannah is 4 lbs., but she's gotten a little chubby. I'm changing her diet to get her back down to 4 lbs. where she's supposed to be. She had 3 puppies the first time I bred her, but one was born dead, so only two lived. All 3 were little girls. I hope she has little girls this time, too! I may keep one of them. I printed out a lot of stuff on the internet about what to expect and I was very prepared for the births. She had them exactly on the 63rd day, starting around 11:00 p.m. and ending at 4:30 a.m. |

| ![]() Its not always horrible, sometimes you get lucky! When Wobie came home a week ago, I was surprised to get an 8 week old 99% pottytrained puppy. He's only had 1 accident, and that was on the first day when he was getting used to his new home.I was worrying just like you, but now I know all my worrying was pointless! ![]()
