| ![]() Hi, i have this problem with my Yorkie. Am not sure what to do about it every time he see another animal he just whines and barks to get at them (like I am killing him) he will not stop. I took him to the mall to get his pictures taken with santa and I was ask to leave because he just when nuts trying to get at the other pets. This is not the only place I have been ask to leave cause of this. I want to take him to classes for training but am scared I will be thou out cause of him going nuts. He needs to learn how to act around other pets. but if i keep getting thou out. How is he supposed to learn? I will probaly leave any way cause it is annoying and embassing. We have two cats and I have no problems with him and the cats. I have a friend who brings her yorkie over and he will not let her alone if I lock him up in another room that don't help either. I just think he thinks all pets want to play with him like are cats. please I am begging for any advise I can get. |

| ![]() well i think if you are going to training classes is for the issue you have, if he didnt whine why would u take him, u get me, if he acts that way in class then your trainer will see what he has to deal with so i believe its best for him to act that way in class until u train him, because like u say u are scared of him whining, then what would be the point of taking him if he doesnt? but i do hope training helps him out a little, sometimes dogs need a little guidance (spell check) |

| ![]() Baer, Try this. Get your friend with a yorkie to help you. Both of you have your yorkies on leashes and start quite some distance apart (like all the way across your yard). Your friend and her dog stay still. Make absolutely no move while your yorkie is spazzing out. The second he stops to take a breath, take a step forward. If he starts acting up, freeze (or even take a step back). When he acts the least bit calm, take a step forward. It shouldn't take him too long to figure out that calm behavior = moving towards what he wants and spastic behavior = going nowhere. If he doesn't get it the first day, fine but do NOT let him go closer to the other dog. You do not want to reinforce bad behavior. Make sense? You will have to practice this several times with your friend's dog. When he's got the idea, try the same thing with another dog. Be sure to start some distance away and only move closer to the other dog when your dog is behaving.

| ![]() Another thing is, what do you do when your yorkie starts acting out? If you start to talk to him and or pet him, that is a big no no. Ignore him when he does that because you do not want to reward such behaviour. Only reward when he is finally calmed down.
