| Can someone help me? I recently purchased a yorkie puppy. He is not in his cage at all through the day, But I try and put him in at night for bed. He barks and cries all night, so I end up having to get up and let him sleep with my husband and I. It wouldn't be a bad thing if he wouldn't pee on our bed. I take him out before we go to bed and also through the night. I'm not sure what i am doing wrong. Please help me. Thanks and God Bless! |

| He's just loney that's all. If he is peeing in your bed perhaps you could crate him next to your bed until he is trained. Dogs are social creatures and require company expecially Yorkies. They do not enjoy being left out. If he is not peeing in your bed you are doing nothing wrong. Buddy sleeps with me and so do most of the others here sleep with their mommies and daddy's. They love us as much as we love them. My daughter would put her pup down on a wee wee pad to go during the night and the pup would come back to the bed and she would pick him up and tuck him in again. She never left the bed! | If you do not mind, just let puppy sleep with you. If not, you need to put puppy's crate near your bed while you sleep; within the snoring range. If he whines and cries, don't let him out otherwise he will learn that each time he whines, he is being let out.

| AWWWWW! Your little one is just lonely...and I hate to break it to your, but now that you've given in and have let him sleep in your bed, you might as well let him start sleeping in your bed with you full time. Since he is a puppy, you will need to let him out several times during the night. I let both of mine sleep in bed with us since the day we brought them home and I just started putting a couple of towels down right beside me on the bed and they would sleep on the towels. That way, if they pee, it is on the towel. He will get to where he won't pee in the bed...it just takes a little growing up and a little time...he is still very young. But, if he starts moving around during the night, take him right outside to potty. |

| My pupp is funny. She will NOT pee on my bed. She sleeps with me every night (I put her in her crate, she'll sleep for about an hour and then cry til I let her in my bed - but I think it helps) She is about 50% potty trained. (She goes on the pads during the day in her play pen - she comes to work with me) but at the house she doesn't quite have it figured out. You could try crating him beside your bed. Put some puppy pads in your room so he can go on there - and then let him in your bed? Maybe he goes in the bed because she can't get down? I know my baby can't get down from the bed - and hasn't tried. Good luck!

| Are you home during the day? If you are, try putting him in the crate for an hour or so during the day, working up to a couple hours or so. That way he gets used to the crate as a safe a good place to be. break up some treats or food and sprinkle them in the crate (leave the door open) and let him become familiar with the crate during the day. You can even spread some peanut butter or liverwurst on the sides of the crate (if it's not a cage crate) and let him lick the sides. Anything to convince him the crate is a "good" thing. If you have a wire crate, try covering the crate with a towel or blanket so that he feels safe a secure at night. Try putting a shirt that you have worn all day in there at night so that he gets your scent while he sleeps. Most importantly (only if you don't want him sleeping with you until he is potty trained) DON'T cave. If he whines get up and take him out to potty and right back in the crate. No conversation (other than to state the demand "go potty"). If he whines right after he goes potty, ignor him. Do not reward his crying and whining by taking him out of the crate. You may need to practice this during the day. Reward him, when he is quiet in the crate. In the begining it may have to be for the 1st minute or 2 and work your way up to 5 - 10 minutes of quiet. Some dogs take to their crate naturally and some you just have to train. But anything you do at this point is a training method. So watch yourself and make sure you are training him for the good behaviors and not the bad.

| Put a bellyband on him. Then if he has an accident when he's in your bed - no problem...... But - if you let your puppy wear a bellyband in the house - you still need to be totally deligent as far as taking him outside often to train him to pee outside. My little guy wears a bellyband part of the time -- but we still go outside every two hours. And - he's real good about peeing outside. He wears the bellyband inside at times - so he can have free run of the house - and I don't have to worry about "accidents." Carol Jean |

| I'm not sure how big your bed is, but when I got my second Yorkie, I kept her in our smallest crate and put it on my bed at night till I thought she was ready to sleep through the night without it. If her crate was on the floor, she would whine but when I moved it to my bed, she did just fine - she just needed to be closer to me. omega |

| I want to thank all of you for your advice. HI Friends. I would like to thank all of you for the advice you have given me. I put Mocha's crate by my bed last night, and he slept for half the night. Much better than before. I let him sleep with me the rest of the night. He didn't even pee the bed. We are going to keep working with him. Someone mentioned a belly band could someone explain to me what that is. I have never heard of it before. We are trying to potty train him outside. If he starts sniffing then I hurry and take him out. It usually works, but I'm not sure if he will learn this way or not. I hope some day he will know to go to the door. If you have any advice on this let me know. Thank you for taking the time to help me in this time of need. God Bless you all! |
