I'm not sure how big your bed is, but when I got my second Yorkie, I kept her in our smallest crate and put it on my bed at night till I thought she was ready to sleep through the night without it. If her crate was on the floor, she would whine but when I moved it to my bed, she did just fine - she just needed to be closer to me.
