| Tricks Could everyone please share their pups tricks with me? My Irie is 12 weeks old and I want to start teaching her tricks so detailed explanation on how to train them to do each trick would be great. Thanks,

| Sorry, Hootie and Hobbs' best trick is running in the opposite direction when I call their name and begging for food. Not hard to teach them those things! But maybe someone else can help you out! |

| Loki knows so many tricks. Which do you want to teach? The first step is to get some yummy treats. Then lure the dog into a sit or down (the lure turns into a hand signal) and then give them the treat. THEN once they have the behavior down, give it a name. Loki responds to words and hand signals. What "tricks" did you have in mind?

| Just pick up her paw and give her a treat. Then put your hand out and wait until she puts her paw in your hand and give her a treat.... do little steps... This is how I got Loki's shake to turn into high five and then wave

| I don't ask Loki to dance because of his luxating patella, but we used to get my friend's ShihTzus to do it by holding up a treat. For roll over just get her to lie down and then help roll her over and give her a treat. Act all excited like she did it on her own. We tried to lure Loki but he can twist so far that he never had to roll over to get the treat. We ended up just helping him, but it worked! And don't be surprised if your pup tries her new tricks for you even when you don't ask. Loki will try to get a treat by rolling over or waving to me randomly. We saw my little cousin today and he started crawling and waving and rolling all over trying to get his attention. It was SO cute.

| My Tyson is enrolled at Petsmart puppy class they take them at 10weeks and we had him in there to the day..now I thought tht there would be some young pups in there..however I was a bit suprised.......when we came in we were seated right next to the 4month old GREAT DANE...........which in Petsmarts book does qualify for the puppy class, but anyways, I looked at the suggested website and tht was the first thing they thought th epups and like I said Ty was just 10weeks and he was sitting on day 1, we tried down last week and because Ty is little when he is sitting he is almost down, so tht trick is better for the bigger dogs, we worked on leave it, which is wht you say to your pup when they are on there way to get into something they are not supposed to and then they learned drop it, thts when leave it didnt work and they now have it in there mouth, last week was the 1st week they had free time all the dogs together and Tyson did not want to do learning just playtime so when the teacher was teaching commands and tricks Ty went and say in her lap and tried to scam treats out of her treat bag tht was latched on her belt, and I hate to say it but he is a cute Yorkie so of course the teacher fell in love with him day one and she babys the heck out of him and uses him on all the demos, all the other dogs are 4-5months so I dont need to tell you the yorkie is the teachers pet and the hit of Petsmart, but keep in touch or keep this thread bumbed and every WED when we get home from school I let you know ht we were taught and if you want to know I will givew you the instructions, Yorkies are very smart even though he didnt participate in class, he caught up with his homework and is doing very well....keep in touch, they are fast learners even if they are over a year.....Happy monday CHRISTINE |
