| Is it normal for them to yap/yell while one bathes? Does this happen to anyone?? I wake up in the morning and jump into the shower and she yaps the entire time that I am there. At first I talked to her to reassure her that I was there and I opened the curtain a little to confirm this but it did not stop her so I began ignoring her in hopes she would stop. Now its worst, now she yells and screams as if she was in major pain the entire time untill the second I get out. Can she injure herself/ her throat with all the screaming? Is this normal for Yorkies?? What can I do to help her??

| I guess it could be a form of separation anxiety - not being able to get to you while you are in the shower? I don't think she will harm herself by yapping, but hopefully she's not getting too worked up or stressed by your 'disappearance' behind the curtain. What about giving her something to do while you're in there to keep her occupied? Like a Kong filled with some healthy treats that she has to work at to get... or a bullystick or pigs ear (these keep my dogs occupied for hours). Just don't soothe her and talk sweetly to her when she's yapping - it'll just enforce her behavior. Be firm and tell her no. I don't know - I hope someone else can offer you more advice! Good luck!

| THANK YOU so much Oscar's Mummy!! She has toys all over the house (including my bathroom) but I have not given her something specific. So I will be getting some pigears on the way home today. I have tried to buy her those Kong toys but they are all so big and she has a tiny mouth... Thanks again!!!!!! By the way your baby is a cutie!!!

| Maybe she is just curious what is going on in there. I would put her little butt in there with you while the shower is turned off, close the curtain and let her explore the tub.

| AprilLove used to do the exact same thing! How old is your pup? I really think they need time to adjust and to learn that you are always going to be there. With AprilLove, she grew out of it around 4 months old. I would keep her in the bathroom with me and talk while I showered. I also peeked out ever couple minutes to give her some reasurrance. She also had toys on the floor to play with (and toilet paper when I wasn't bright enough to not roll the paper back onto the roll . Be patient and it will get better. MaryKay AprilLoves Mommy |

| I go through this almost daily with louie, if he is here by himself. he cries and carries on endlessly, but once he hears me walking down the stairs he stops. some mornings i feel like i am going to go crazzy if he doesn't stop.. i know that he misses me. he will also do this at night if he realizes we are not there. he won't sleep in his crate and goes crazy everytime i put him in there. so he sleeps in the livingroom and we have to sneek out once he falls asleep. but we also have a lasa who seems to be a bit jealous even though louie has been with us for a couple of months. she will wake him up in the middle of the night and then she will wake me so i have to go downstairs and be with him.. she is a little stinker... so you are not alone.. i hope they all stop yelling soon...lol... annette and louie |

| OMG I remember this. I use to rush out of my showers because Coco used to scream like a banchee everytime I got into the shower. It broke my heart. I tried putting her in there, talking to her while showering, reassuring her, giving toys, treats, but nothing worked. I continued to ignore her and around the time she turned like 6-7 months she just stopped on her own. Try to ignore her because when you peek your head out of the curtain, I learned that you are reinforcing the yelling and screaming by acknowledging it. Your baby is so cute I love the picture

| My little Roxy is 8 months old and she still cries when I go in the shower in the morning. Every morning I let her explore the bathroom and every time she tries to jump into the tub. Sometimes I let her stay in the bathroom while I shower but she always tries to jump in and ends up getting soaked. I believe your baby just wants to see whats going on. They are very curious! |

| My Tee Tee use to do this!! I leave the bathroom door open when I shower and Tia and Codie now sit on the bathroom rug and wait for me to get out. Sometimes Tia even jumps in the shower with me (she LOVES water). It's so cute!
