![]() Good Morning to All! I'm new to this site. Yes, a first timer. I haven't been able to get on to yorkies direct, and I kept looking until I found you. We'll be getting a baby yorkie mid-October. She was born on August 27th. I've been hearing that the piddle-pads are a useful way to help house-break the little babies. I'm looking for all the info I could use. We have two other yorkies.Missy is 12years old, and we had received her from a kennel when she was 6 years old. She was only used for breeding. Now, she has a good life here in her home that she loves. Punkin was 5 years old when we had gotten her. She is now 8years. An older lady was trying to find a good home for her, and we welcomed her with open arms, and plenty of toys! We haven't had a puppy for a long time. I am hoping to be a regular on this site, and as I said before, I do need plenty of HELP! Our new baby will be called Lexi Lou. It's so hard being a Mommy-in-Waiting. Hope to talk later. Thank You, Linda

| ![]() linda Hi. ![]() As for the pee pads. well I haven't used them...not sure if they were around when we last had a pup..(10 years ago now)...but as with everything house training is all about time and sheer dedication..as you know. When we had our pups..from the start I virtually spent most of the first few days doing practically nothing but watching the pup..feeding him and walking around our patio area waiting for him to do the 'duties'. It seemed like I did nothing else for ages..bit it was worth it..they all soon learnt. With night time all our pups were caged in a special area in the kitchenette..with paper down for the night time accidents...and this caged area became somewhere to place the pup at regular intervals during the day. saying to him..''mummy is now doing some household chores..so it is time for you to stay in your pen.''As a result they soon leant that certain times of the day they were to be quiet and other times we used to go walkies and play. This method has never failed me at all. There will always be the 'accident' on the floor..or worse the carpet..but do try not to scald the pup too much...just take it outside speak sternly and firmly ...and if necessary close the door on the pup for a few minutes just to let it know you dissapprove. I do hope everything goes well for you...Let us all know.. ![]()

![]() Welcome, ask away any questions you may have! Pee pee pads are great, you just need to spend a few weeks to train your puppy to use them. Here's some threads I found on pee pee pads: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...hlight=pee+pad http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...hlight=pee+pad

![]() Welcome to Yorkie Talk. A lot of great information and great people. Last year I lost my 17 year yorkie, Max had a great live. I have a 15 year chow-mix Lucky. Now I am blessed with two more yorkies Maddie 19 months and Rudy 9 months. It is a whole new game with puppies. Even Lucky looks at me sometimes like saying what have you brought home. They have made Lucky act like a puppy again. Your new puppy will bring you even great joy. ![]() Last edited by Maddie-Rudy-Mom; 09-23-2004 at 01:34 PM.

The rescue of an animal, for whatever reason, is the most admirable thing anyone can do! You will have a houseful when little Lexi Lou gets there!! What fun!!! ![]()

![]() Puppy pads are great but when we trained our yorkie to go on the pad she would tear it up, I guess she was trying to bury it, anyway it made a huge mess. So I tied a bell on the door everytime she messed in the floor (I mean pad) I would tell her no walk her to the door and make her ring the bell. After about 2 weeks of this she caught on. I think it is a very good way of communication with your dog. Then one day I came home and the bell was laying in the floor next to a puddle of pee, she was hiding behind the couch scared to death because she new she had done wrong. I couldn't blame her for it, I was gone to long. Poor Thing she is so sweet.
