What helped initially for me, was to drip a bit of his pee on the pads and put it in the litter box type. When he smelled the pee, he eventually learned to pee on the pad. Also if the box starts to smell a lot, maybe put it in the bathroom. Good luck!

| We usually just get some pads at the drugstore. I will check to see what brand and price. However, thanks for the tip Junebug, that is a great price! |

The huge box of pee pads gets sent to my boyfriend's house, so his mailman probably thinks he has a huge urinary problem!

The only problem was when Otis would take a crap, he would hang his heinie off the edge of the tray, and the poop would end up on the floor. So we got rid of the tray and use the pee pad by itself, and now Otis finds he makes his target everytime! (Well, most of the time!)

| We actually started Toto from day one with weewee pads and it has worked out great!! We use the "praise & reward" system and it has worked beautifully. My entire life I always thought you scolded but found when doing my research on this subject that if you scold they just think you don't like "seeing" them do it so they go someplace else when you're not looking [this explains so much about pets I have had in the past]!! We simply placed her on the pad [after naps, eating, etc.] and each time she went we would tell her what a "Good Girl" she was and give her a small piece of Honeycomb Cereal [recommended by our vet as a treat]. She quickly got the hang of it and now if noone sees her go on her pad ... she seeks us out ... sits down and gives a little yip and shows us she was a "Good Girl" and gets her treat!! We order the Simple Solutions pads online from PetSmart [$15.99 for 56] and it is wonderful!

| I haven't been on this board for a while, and I"m so happy to see all the new users! Anyway, I'm bumping this message up so all the new users can see my message about where to buy good pee pads for way less expensive than the pet stores sell them for. Good luck in training! |
