| Im new and need help! Hello! My name is Sarah and I just got my first yorkie ever, Fancy. I love her to death, she is the sweetest dog in the world, but she ALWAYS wants to be with me! She is doing well in her crate at night, she will wake up 2-3 times, lets out a little cry, and then I take her potty and she goes back to sleep as long as I keep my fingers in her cage until she goes back to sleep. BUT.......during the day she is such a brat! I will put her in her crate when I leave (2 1/2 hours max) and she barks from the second I leave until I let her out. I have a little crate so she shouldnt got potty in it. But she barks so long it makes her sick. It breaks my heart to see her so upset, but what can I do???? I live in an apartment too and I am afraid her barking will make the neighbors mad. I have tried, the firm "NO", but she cant hear me over her YELP, I have tried the spray bottle with water/vinegar, but it just makes her smell and she likes the way it tastes, I have tried the penny can, but that only works at night when I am there. Somebody please help me!!!!

| Have you tried leaving an interactive toy in her crate to keep her busy, like a kong or something? you may need to practice with her being in the crate at home during the day, when you are there. Start small and work up to an hour or so. Keep the tv or radio on, as suggested, but also keep it on when you are there, so she does not associate turing on the radio/tv with you leaving. I think if you leave her in her crate while you are there during the day, she will get used to it sooner. Other than that, you need to let her yelp and bark and ignor her. |

| Definately try kongs, but also, she should go to sleep while she is in her crate. Make sure you wear her out completely before putting her in there. Take her for a walk so long you have to carry her home, then put her in there. Then she can lick her kong and she'll be so tired she will just fall asleep. I agree about putting her in the crate while you are there. Also make sure she has safe toys in there too.

| Thank all yall for your suggestions, I will have to try to keep her in there while i am home and see if that works. I just left her to go to lunch (a quick one 45 min) and she threw up again from barking so much. I left the tv on, gave her her toys, and she still hates it! Maybe she just wants to be like a celebrity dog and go EVERYWHERE with me! Thanks for yalls help.

| Sarah it's totally normal and most puppies do this. Mine cried like that for about a month. ALLLLLL NIGHT!!!! Trust me she will stop you just have to ignore her, otherwise she will associate her crying with attention. Good luck and don't worry it won't be long before she stops. How old is she? How old was she when you got her?
