| I use a harness but my dog was not very good about walking until I took him to our canal. There are alot of people who walk their dogs there so he liked the excitement. After that he walked fine for me. You could also begin by putting his leash on and walking him around the house to get used to it. Good luck

| When I first got Oreo, I put his collar on his and he was always scratching at it... and then I just recently got his accustomed to his leash and harness. I first put the harness and leash on him and let him get the feel for it around the house. I did the same thing with my new addition Ginger. and so far so good so hopefully just try to get your yorkie used to the collar/leash being on first, and then slowly progress wish you all the best |

| toby hated the leash and harness, and even his collar at one point in time..... it took hima while to get used to all these things.... i am with everyone else though, i would NEVER attach a leash to his collar...... Its actually kinda funny, because now when i take toby's collar off for a bath, he gets kinda sad, and then when i pick up the collar to put it back on him he gets REALLY excited.... |

| Congrat on your new puppy! How long have you had her? I have one that was scared to death of the car. He would hide under it or try to run in the house. Plus he would get so nervous he would get car sick and throw up all over the car. Anyway, at first I sat in the car with him and feed him steak and chicken for about 1 or 2 weeks-no more than 5 minutes at a time. Then I would drive him to the park or training center(2miles away) and we would play and play and play. Now he likes the car so much I can't get him out of it. I think I over did that one. Here is a suggestion for the collar. Let her drag it around about 5 minutes a day for a couple of day. During that time, call her to you and reward her will tons of treats. good luck |

| Maybe you could just put the leash and collar on her and let her go around the house all day without you holding it. Mine doesn't like to walk on the leash too well yet but she is used to having it on and dragging it around the house. I do this for training purposes. She's learning she can't run out the front door because I can grab that leash or she never runs from me when she has something in her mouth she's not aloud to have because she knows I can grab the leash. Sounds like you will need to take slow baby steps with her. I hate it when dogs have only been kennelled, it does not make a well adjusted pet. I'm sure patience will bring her out of it. It's an all new world to her. |

| I just sat on my front steps with Stewie on his retractable leash and collar. He would plant his feet and not move. If he did move, it would be to run to the door and try to go back inside. Now he walks on a leash like a champ. It just took a lot of time (and the weather warming up) for him to get used to it and a lot of coaxing.
