| peeing To Piss Me Off I have got a problem with my puppy Murphy and I was wondering if any one else can tell me if their dogs do this too. He is currently 5 months old and he is doing GREAT with his potty training for his age. He almost NEVER has an accident when we are at home since i just leave the slider door cracked and he goes in and out as he needs. My only complaint is that while I am at home I let him run around with me - he usually just follows me any ways. BUT - heres the problem - if I run outside real quick, say to just check the mail or grab the newspaper he will jump up on the sofa look out the window at me and pee right on my leather sofa. It is not the end of the world since I have leather and it cleans right up but I am wondering why he does this since it is obvious he knows where he is supposed to go. It is like he is pissed off at me for not taking him with me for 1 minute. I am only gone for a few seconds but yet he does this - UGH - I am going to loose it if he does not stop this. He will also do it if he is in my truck with me. I will leave the truck on and jump out for 1 minute and he will pee on my center console. Does anyone know why he is doing this and how I can get him to stop besides obviously locking him up when I leave and taking him with me. I want him to know it is wrong and not to do it. I think he is just doing it because he is mad I left him but honestly it is only a second or two. Any suggestions on what is going through his head and how to get him to stop.

| I believe he is marking and will stop if you neuter him.

| Could it be out of excitement?? I know that when I get out of the car Daisy gets very excited and sometimes she has an accident. She's not doing it intentionally, they just have small bladders. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Awwww....he's still a baby. He's still VERY YOUNG and try to be patient. Yorkies are hard to train but when they get it - they usually get it. Compare potty training to up to 3 YEARS with some human children - it's not so bad if you look at it that way. |

| Try to think like a Yorkie for a minute...what makes more sense to you? A..Mom is outside, she left me alone..I see her from the window..I am so anxious and excited..oops! I just peed on the couch. OR B..I am sick and tired of mom going outside without me, so I will teach her a lesson and pee on the couch, that will really piss her off. To me this is an easy one to solve..you know the problem, pick him up and take him with you or put him in a pen... My Emee was pooping on the throw rug by the back door every morning...SO I put a weewee pad there and now she goes on it..but my husband forgets to look before he comes inside...who is going to win?..Emee, of course and at some point my husband will accept this fact and look before walking inside..I have done it for years and I never step in poop. It is just a matter of training. |

| I also think that it's because he gets excited and probably upset when you leave him. It's just the state of mind he is in for those few moments. Perhaps - you need to put him someplace where his "peeing won't hurt anything" and leave him for a few minutes every once in a while. I would think that he'll learn you'll be right back and not get so excited and upset after a while. I had a huge lab that would go to the bathroom in the car everytime I took him anyplace. This was always because he got so excited -- not fun! Then finally - after a million car rides - he finally got over this terrible habit. It certainly was never because he was upset with me or anything like that. Carol Jean |

| Is he allowed on the sofa when you're not in the house? Just curious, if this is really the only place he does it, there are a few things you can do if the neutering doesn't stop this. PM me or e-mail me: topsredhead@yahoo.com ~Leslie |
