Donating YT 30K Club Member | I started at an early age and at first she would get them out but after a ewek or two she leves them alone. I make a game out of her bows. I have a box with compartments in it and I keep her bows in it. So when it 's time to change her bow I say let's go pick out a new bow and she runs to the closet where the box is and I let her sniff the bows and then I pick one out and say good bow! then she sits real still while I get the old one out and put the new one in. On days where I just come her out and put in the same bow. I say bow time and she comes and lets me change it. i just keep telling her good bow and give her a treat afterwards. She always has a bow in and never gets it oiut ot bothers with it. I think it's just them getting use to it.

| bows In the beginning around...12 weeks, I just use a latex band..later they do not realize the bow is even there..good luck PS..you may need to spray with Bitter Apple to keep the others from eating the bow off their heads. |

| Both of mine will wear bows with no problem. Just make sure you are not pulling any hair and they shouldn't really even notice it after a while. I always put in a little rubber band first and attach the bow which has it's own rubberband or clip to the ponytail over the first rubberband. Maybe if they are not used to pony tails at all you should just put their hair up in a ponytail without a bow for a while so they get used to that first.

| Im put in a plain elastic band in first then the bow band and I have less trouble with the bow coming out.

| I suggest also to just use the band at first till they get used to leaving that alone, After I get the band in, then I take the tail of the comb and poke it through under the band to loosen it a bit. If it is uncomfortable they probably will not leave it alone. Don't use rubber bands, use those new latex bands, they are much easier on the hair and come out much easier. |

| Another idea Here's another idea. You can put your hair band in, or your bow and have your dog on a leash. Once it's in, take your dog for a short walk. If he/she goes to paw at it, give a small tug up and encourage the dog to just keep walking. The idea is to keep your leash loose enough so that they're not pulling and when the do go to stop and begin pawing at it or roll around (assuming they're not freaking out all together) then give them a correction so that they keep their head up and keep walking, or encourage them to change the subject and sniff things on your walk. Anything to get their mind off of this "creepy thing stuck to their head". And do the same once you get home. If you notice after your walk that he/she is interested in pulling it out, then tell them no, if they continue, maybe hook your finger under their collar and give a slight tug towards you and tell them no again. If they leave it alone for a minute or two, again I'd try to change the subject and maybe play w/ them w/ a toy for ahwile. If your Yorkie knows he's not allowed to touch it and runs into another room to do so, you'll need to have him on a leash w/ you so you can monitor him for awhile at least in the house. |

| I think I am a little late at trying to tie Tiger's hair . . . He hates it. My hubby holds him and still I cannot get him to stay still . . . And since he does not have a lot of hair I never thought to put it up when he was younger. . . . I think I will use the suggestions here for when I take Nika home . . . especially since she's a girl and girls need to be pretty all the time . . . I am counting on her to be a better model for my harnesses and maybe clothes when she's older. |

| With Mayzie, I find that consistency is the key. Meaning everyday, I put a bow/band in. The first couple days she got it out but when I see her start to drag her face on the floor, i just told her no. The last two days she left it alone all day. yeah, Mayzie! I will just be glad when her hair gets a little longer. She is 5mon.

I have bought some but I haven't used them yet as they have the bands on them and I am not to adept at getting them in yet. I have been using rubber bands and then baby barrettes (human babies) I put her little ponytail in and then clip a barretter underneath that and it stays in pretty good. When we get used to that (her wearing it and me getting it in) then I will start using my bows. I don't want her messing them up by chewing on them if she gets them out. Jamie
