| hi Hi, this is my first post, I really like this site, especially the pictures.... I have a 3 1/2 year od female yorkie, she learned very fast to go potty on paper I put in the laundry room. my problem started about 6 or 7 months ago she is peeing very near the paper or outside the paper but she does not go into the laundry room to pee. What is really strange is she goes to the back of the room and uses the paper to poop, so I know it is not that she is scared of the room or something like that. I am getting very tired and frankly annoyed with her and I really dont know what to do. I'm thinking of putting a gate like I used to do when she was small but it breaks ny heart to leave her there all day now that she is older and loves to sleep on the sofa. what can i do? i really would appreciate your advice. thanks!! |

I Love Thor Donating Member | I am not familiar with pee pee pads so I am no help with that. The one and only thing that I can think of is that for some reason or other she is reggresing. Has any thing changed in her life in the past 6/7 months? Even something like a schedule change? Good luck. And what I really wanted to say is WELCOME TO YT!!!! We are so glad to have you here! |

| Noah is a year and three months (We've had in almost a year) and he still has problems with the whole potty training issue. He goes fine when we let him out, the problem is he NEVER lets us know when we need to let him out. It is kind of a guessing game around here. And if it is too cold, or too wet, he just plain won't go outside. He is been pretty good lately, but he still has his little accidents from time to time. He knows it's wrong when he potties inside because he will run away with his little butt down if he hears his name afterwards, but that still isn't enough to stop him. My fiance thinks we need to punish him more, but he is just too little to spank and too cute to stay mad at. So I guess it is my fault too, but I just can't help it. |

| I started out using pee pads with my female and she did very well with them but I had to put the pee pad in a litter box otherwise she wouldn't use it. It also had to be a clean pad or she wouldn't step into the box. It really helped with housebreaking especially in the middle of the night. She eventually stopped using the pads and wanted to go outside instead. She has not had an accident in the house in over 6 months. However, My male yorkie, who is a year older, thought that pee pads were his own special chew toys and chose to tear them apart rather than use them appropriately. Unfortunately, he still has accidents in the house and he's almost 2 1/2 years old but we're still working at it. I also know of people who have used dog litter (not the same as cat litter) in the litter box rather than pee pads and have had some success with that method. I think it's called "yesterday's news" and can be purchased at Wal-mart. good luck |

| Emilee did the same thing. Always went on her paper like a good girl, and then started going right on the edge or right beside it. I bought one of those plastic contraptions to hold the pee pad and now that it is "framed" she always goes right on the pad. No more going on the edges or beside it. I think I got it from JeffersPet or Fosters & Smith.

| thanks everyone. yorkie 3 , I really dont know which plastic contractions you mentioned, I have never seen them, but thanks anyway, she's been better this week, if she doesn't improve I guess I'll have to leave her with a gate for a while.until she remembers...the problem is my husband who leaves (for work) after I do, he doesn't want to leave her like that so he is not helping, but I understand whre he is coming from, we really love our baby |

| The plastic contraptions are called training pad holders. They look like a thin plastic picture frame that goes around the pee pad. PetsMart sells them. |
