YT 1000 Club Member | When I brought Teek home he would not answer to his name at all. We picked out a new name for him, Teek, and within 2 days he was responding to it. After that he would come when I called him. Even now, if I call him by his old name he will turn away from me and pout or put his head under a blanket and ignore me. Maybe the dog wants a new name or doesn't like his old name? Teek was 9 years old when I got him and they had gotten him as a puppy so he knew that was his name. I think he thought that if he had that name he might be going back to them or something. I changed his name and it was like he knew he was spending the rest of his life with me.

http://youtu.be/11nEh7oie34 This is Penny working on focus with distractions and heeling in position. Left turns are little difficult because she likes to walk a little too far front. Look at me! I’m all wrong too! Sigh… treating with the incorrect hand, holding at leash wrong etc...

| Training Kali is my fave part next to cuddles I started with her immediately at 8 wks when we got home. I talk to her with simple words all the time like you would a toddler. its been two weeks and she knows come, sit, up, paw, other paw, high five, down, spin, roll, stay, get it, drop it, and go potty. I am very proud of her. i work with her a couple times a day whenever i have moment. I think she thinks its fun too. I give her little pieces of her puppy food in the wet version as her treats since she's so little. after she has learned a few tricks i would start linking them up before giving her the reward. idk how to post a video but you can see her here https://instagram.com/kutie_yorkie_kali/

| Hi all, my baby is 5 months old, he knows how to sit, stay, lay, crawl, go up, say his prayers, go to his bed (which he uses only to play in because he sleeps in my bed ☺️) turn around to the right, turn around the other way, roll over, bang-bang, figure eight with cones, weave with 4 cones, jump through a small hula hoop (started with a old paper towel roll), he is learning to push his dump truck and ring a desk bell, his favorite and mine too is I put his blanket on the floor and he lays on it grabs the corner with his mouth and rolls over which wraps him in the blanket- this one I tell him to get his 'blankie and go night night, but when he sees me put his blanket down he is so excited he is usually doing it before I can tell him to, lol. The hardest ones so far has been saying his prayers and ringing the bell. We both have a great time doing his tricks. It is amazing how fast and eager they are to learn. Now if I could just get him to potty outside EVERYTIME, lol fast learner with a stubborn streak! Enjoy your new puppy when the time comes to being him home, they are so precious! Excited for you!

YT Addict | Tink, my 11 year old yorkie, knows how to: Sit, lay down, turn around, "high-five", shake She has an obsession with socks since I got her as a puppy, so if I point to a pair of pants on the floor (that have socks in there somewhere) and say, "Go Find" she very determinately will rummage through until she finds them It's weird, but it makes her happy when she "Finds" the socks in the pants. I regularly do this as a game, shove some socks into pants - then tell her "Go Find". |

YT 1000 Club Member | Today Teek did Stretch twice on command, but as soon as I got out a treat for him it was standing up and begging. He will sit on command for a treat or he will go into a beg or do a stand for the treat. I can get him to stretch if no food is involved, which is odd. I am still working on more commands, I must be honest that it is slow going with him. Once he figures out what I want though he gets it pretty good. I am very patient with him though as I don't know what his life was like before he was with me.

| My 2 years old yorkie Yobo knows how to sit, lay, stay, shake, hi-5, roll, play dead, and fetch. I'm in the process of teaching him new tricks. My 6 months old morkie knows how to sit, shake, and hi-5. She's picking up fast as she's learning from Yobo. I plan to buy a clicker. Has anyone had good results with that? |

| Mine are attracted to the clicker sound but I'm not trained😉 And don't forget the baby toys! Vtech makes the cutest ones!! I have 4 andyou can't tell me they don't make em for dogs!lol! One says "can you shake my maracas smarty paws?" It's a puppy all you have to do is bump it and it activates .there is a pony that way too. She has a piano she plays. And another puppy you step on the key pads . They are all children's voices and zoey loves them! She will go thru all 4 of them to get me to play ball.

| Hi everyone, Sunni is almost 6 months now..her birthday is on May 6(so I was told). We have been in basic puppy classes, but she really has known all the things we are being taught, so she's a little star (of puppy class), haha. She knows, sit, stay, down, come, leave it, bring it, wanna play?, go get your toy, find it, shakes with right or left paw whichever one I ask for, rollover, beg. She's great at sit/stay, down/stay, High five....except its really high 15..her two paws and my hand, lol. I cant get her to play dead yet. I'm obssessed with Misa Minnie, and still watch that little doll YouTube videos, because I cant beleive what that puppy could do at 10 weeks old!! over 20 tricks, lol. If you haven't seen any of them, do yourself a favor and watch. She's a smartie and so beautiful. I have tried to get Sunni to jump thru a hula hoop...even walk thru..no luck. Setting up cups as an obstacle course has turned in to...break thru, haha. I just make a little pyramid and tell her to break thru..she does, we are both pleased. I've only had her a few months and she's learned all of these....I've had all my other dogs for YEARS and pretty much the most we accomplished was sit...yeah..thats about it, lol. One dog knew how to do High 5 (one paw) an down, but thats about it. Not counting my Golden Ret..she was very smart..knew lots of tricks. |

| I'm with you MissSunni, watching Misa is nothing short of amazing and where I learned to do some of the tricks I have taught Presley, lol. With the hula hoop, get her to sit and stay hold the hoop with the hand closest to her and then put a treat in your other hand and give her the go command, that is how I got Presley jumping the hoop, but I started with the cardboard paper towel holder...so cute!!

| Wow JadeD, that's so cool that you've had so many dogs! I also agree that the training is a super good bonding experience with the pups. And yorkies are SO smart! And when they get it, we're super happy and they're super happy Just all round merry fun! I got Scottie when he was 5 months old and didn't realize I could train him right away (but now I know :P). He's now 1 year and 9 months and has learned to: touch, leave it, sit, stay, come, fetch, turn around, sit pretty, wave a paw, shake a paw, roll over, play dead, jump through my arms shaped as a hoop, jump through my legs if I do a 'ballerina plie', find a toy that I hide, and my ultimate favourite: clean up your toys!! muahaha.. I tried teaching him names of toys but he just got confused lol

The puppies are doing well in their training, but still a long way to go. They step up on stools. I can catch the girl puppy in the air when she jumps. This is mine and her "special" trick that she only does with me. It is actually harder to train them because I never have one on one time with them with 4 dogs being in the house. They do sit, down, up, reach (stretch up with their paws). A few others. I keep trying to add more things but keep up with the current ones as well.
