| potty in the snow Yes, I know summer is just starting, but I can't help but think about what I'm going to do when winter hits. My 5 month old pup is fully potty trained outside, but when it rains really hard she does not want to go out there. When we get 6+ inches of snow in the winter I'm sure she is not going to be thrilled to go out there. For those of you who live in a place that gets snow, what do you do during the winter? I thought about trying to pad train her too, but an worried this will just confuse her. |

| I don't have to deal with snow, but have read that others either clear a little potty area outside, or put a "potty patch" either inside near the door he usually goes out or just outside the door. It is amazing that he is fully potty trained at only 5 months. That is practically a miracle with Yorkies

| you can shovel a little path.... it usually works. Sometimes we use the xpen in the garage with peepee pads, it works for us, too.

| Waffles actually prefers the snow to the rain. We shovel a "runway" around the yard for him. One issue is he wants to jump into the deep snow, luckily we always have him on a lease so we can keep him from going too far The main thing is to keep a close eye that your little pup doesn't get too cold while she's wondering around in the snow. |

| You'll be surprised how much they love the snow. I am in Pa. this past winter we had many heavy snow falls, by Jan. I had over 2 feet of snow in the back yard. My then newly adopted boy of 2 months had to use the deck, which he refused to use, after several hours of seeing he was not going in the yard he finally did his pee pee and pooped on the deck. This is what he had to use until the first week in April, by time March was here I had 3 1/2 feet of snow in yard. If you have a deck or a patio area and you get a lot of snow you could try using that.

| Mine hate the rain but will go out in the snow without any issues. They love to run through it and play. Doodlebug will stick his head into the piles and come out with a mound on his nose. The only thing that you need to be careful of is ice salt. You need to be sure to use only pet safety salt. The other type has hydrochloride (I think) and will burn the bottom of their paws. Last winter with all the crazy snow that we had we used the snow blower on the lawn to make them a trail with they loved to run through! Very cute <3

My boys love snow too! They are pad trained, but love going out to leave their mark. They do not care how deep it is.
