You'll be surprised how much they love the snow. I am in Pa. this past winter we had many heavy snow falls, by Jan. I had over 2 feet of snow in the back yard. My then newly adopted boy of 2 months had to use the deck, which he refused to use, after several hours of seeing he was not going in the yard he finally did his pee pee and pooped on the deck. This is what he had to use until the first week in April, by time March was here I had 3 1/2 feet of snow in yard. If you have a deck or a patio area and you get a lot of snow you could try using that.
