| ![]() It works... until a large dog or wild predator comes into the yard and does harm to the Yorkies. Question: Will a hawk feel the shock through the Yorkie as he's carrying him/her over the perimeter?

If your dogs never go out alone bc of predators, what is the reason for the fence? It won't keep predators out, and we all know now that some predators are so brazen now, like coyotes, who aren't even afraid of humans anymore. Birds of prey big enough can swoop down and pick up a small dog no matter if there is a fence or not. I'd imagine there are many large birds seeing as how you are up against a golf course.

| ![]() On the original thread he said his 4 month old was 2.7 pounds, however he is much bigger at 4 pounds. Which obviously is big enough to handle the shock.

| ![]() When I think of invisible/electric shock pet fences, I always think of the tiny Chihuahua in my town who was kept in his yard by one. He was eaten by 2 large roaming dogs.

| ![]() My little Teddy is 4.5lbs. One day I was hanging clothes on the line to dry and Teddy was sitting at my feet smelling whatever was in the grass. A huge redtail hawk did a close 'fly-by' and scared the heck out of me! Needless to say, we are extremely cautious when we are outside with him. He is never outside alone and is always close enough to scoop up if we see danger (I have chickens and they alert when something bad is nearby). I can't imagine anyone just letting their small dogs outside unattended (I won't even go into the invisible fence part of the discussion ![]()

I have posted many times before about our neighbor's Yorkie who was attacked by a hawk and nearly died. The Yorkie is over 9 pounds. Birds of prey will attack dogs that they cannot necessarily carry away. I'm so nervous about the birds in our neighborhood that I don't let the boys out on the 30' leashes anymore.

| ![]() Do you use the shock collars on your kids as well, to keep them inside the perimeter as they run and play???
