| Correcting unwanted behavior methods I'm curious of those that have used something to discourage their dogs behavior. A common example one is barking, and I've seen people say they use pennies in a can or a squirt bottle. What other similar methods have you used? If you use squirt bottles, how is your pup when it comes to water now? How do they act when they're in rain, bath time, etc. If you used pennies in can, how are they with sounds now? Do they seem a little jumpy, will a loud sound make they freeze up when they're playing? How do they do with other loud sounds like thunder, or fire crackers? I've always done the whole just reacting to positively to behavior that you like/want and ignoring/not rewarding them with your attention with behaviors you don't like. This worked well with my Pom I had before Draco, but still debating how to handle Draco's training.

| We used pennies first with Callie and now she is terrified of loud noises. So we used the squirt bottle and it worked great. She has never been a fan of the rain but if she has to go potty she will go but all the dogs I grew up with where like that too. She is not afraid of water or anything like that she is fine with baths and stuff. My mom also used the water bottle when her rescue wanted to hump her dogs and it worked and he still loves his baths.

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Behaviour Training My Silky has a real attitude with other dogs and also barking when someone comes to the door. I bought a can of "Pet Corrector" from a supply store and it worked wonders. It's just a spray can that emits a loud spray noise. Nothing comes out of the container except the noise but you're not supposed to do it too close to them. I imagine it only works on dogs who are sensitive to noises which mine is. Now, all I have to do is say the word "spray" and she will stop being aggressive with other dogs and stop barking. I think the can cost me 11 dollars. Well worth the investment if it works. Found a link for it. I see it's more at Amazon but this is likely a larger can than the one I bought. Amazon.com: Dog Supplies Pet Corrector Training...

| I used the pennies only for when our pup was nipping our heels. Loud sounds don't bother him. He was never afraid of the pennies they just caught his attention. I didn't want to use a squirt bottle because we use a squirt bottle with detangler for grooming and I didn't want any association. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | For barking I use the old Barbara 'woody 'Woodhouse technique of saying very firmly 'No barking' & then I cross my hands over each other in the air showing her a closed sign by doing that. She is quite good with that. But if she is agitated and wants to carry on Barking and I know its just another dog, then I keep a very small rolled up booklet in the draw which I just have to show her and repeat no barking & she is quite..
