Default Correcting unwanted behavior methods

I'm curious of those that have used something to discourage their dogs behavior. A common example one is barking, and I've seen people say they use pennies in a can or a squirt bottle.

What other similar methods have you used?

If you use squirt bottles, how is your pup when it comes to water now? How do they act when they're in rain, bath time, etc.

If you used pennies in can, how are they with sounds now? Do they seem a little jumpy, will a loud sound make they freeze up when they're playing? How do they do with other loud sounds like thunder, or fire crackers?

I've always done the whole just reacting to positively to behavior that you like/want and ignoring/not rewarding them with your attention with behaviors you don't like.
This worked well with my Pom I had before Draco, but still debating how to handle Draco's training.
