| I would definitely try blocking off part of the crate and then waking up around 2-3am. I do wonder about the gravel. I know Jackson is sooo weird when it comes to potty places. If I'm taking him out to potty, he will NOT go on gravel or cement. I could stand there with him forever, and he probably would not go on it (even at 3 years old). However, my dad has cement all around his pool and he goes poop over there all the time (when I'm not looking!) And he will lift his leg on an outdoor porch or patio if another dog has before him. But if I'm NEEDING him to go potty because it's the morning or before bed, he needs to be 'walked' on grass, and I put him on a 26ft flexi leash so he has lots of space. But definitely try grass! I think when she's going on the gravel during the day, it's probably because she has no choice and just has to go. It's no different than her just squatting in the house. She probably doesn't have the concept that it's the potty place yet. I would definitely aim for taking into her grass. If you have to, you could buy patches of it at Home Depot or buy a dog potty patch.

| I will try getting up at 2, at least I can then go to bed myself at a reasonable time! I feel so tired! I really don't think she minds the gravel. She has never weed on grass! Whenever I take her for a walk, or she runs about the garden, she has never weed or pood on grass! |

| Thank you. Well letting her out at 2.30 this morning, with the outside lights on, she had a wee, then just stood there, so after 10 mins of nothing, I clipped her lead on, and just took her around the garden for a little trot, then unclipped her and put her back in the toilet area, and omg she had a poo! No poo or wee in her crate this morning! Was hard getting up though he he! |

| That's wonderful that things finally worked out (pun intended-lol). Really, it IS certainly encouraging as I know how frustrating it can be. I am so happy for ya.

| Yay!!! So glad it worked. Not easy, for sure but just think of it as a small amount of time invested for a lifetime of payoff ...keep up the good work. I hope this is the first of many potty accident-free mornings for you and your girls!

| YAY! You are a step closer! Just think... it will pay off in the future to have a fully house trained dog!! Many people would just get lazy with it and let her keep going in her crate and then before you know it, she's doing it every night for the rest of her life lol. So congrats to you! I give it a few more weeks until she begins to get the hang of it!

| Thank you all. God, my eyes at 2.30 ha ha! I don't think Poppy would have a wee or poo at all if she was wearing anything! I think that's why she doesn't ever go when I walk her, as she's wearing her warm coat. I've never seen her do anything when I walk her, and I'm sure she just doesn't want to with the coat on! She's a funny little girl! |

| Norman got up in the night for many months but now at 9 months he's super reliable. I am sure that Poppy will start to get the routine quickly so you won't have to stand outside in the night for long! Way to go!!! |

| You may want to try cutting the feeding time down even earlier too. I feed my munchkin a little at 6am and a full meal at 4:30PM when I get home from work. After that, no more food. He hasn't once poo'd in his cage at night or while at work. He only did one time on the weekend when he got into my dogs food and it upset his tummy. Glad the 2am thing worked for you! You may want to try buying a bit of that fake grass for your gravel area if you don't want the puppy on the grass in your garden.

| Thank you all, things are going really well with me getting up at 2.30 and letting her out, apart from me being knackered! She had a poo on the carpet during the day the other day, just after I'd let her out, but it was a bit loose, and not normal for her, so I assumed she'd eaten something dodgy which had upset her tummy, and she couldn't help it, as her poos are usually solid. I have had a sensor light put up for her, which I am sure has made her feel better about going out at night, as it's very bright, and lights up her whole toilet area! I really don't think she has a problem with the gravel. She has had no night time accidents with me getting her up at 2.30, so I'm really pleased! Thank you all for your help! |
