Maybe rather than buying another smaller crate, I could block off one end somehow and see if that helps.

My yorkie Callie will not go outside unless the outside lights are on unless it is an extreme emergency, she will stand at her doggy door and wait until someone sees her and turns the light on lol. Maybe you could take her poop outside and put it where you want her to go.
