| Pooping in crate So much for not pooping where they sleep. My baby sleeps all through the night in a crate without a peep and doesn't poop/pee. She goes in and out of it during the day but the second we leave the house and she's alone she poops in it!!! And since its not a big crate she has poop all over her requiring a daily bath!! Any suggestions?? |

| How long are you leaving her during the day? Is it more than 3-4 hours? If she isn't left crated very long when this is happening, then it could be that your baby is nervous when you leave. My younger boy always had to poop the minute he was left alone (and he was only left alone 10-20 minutes at a time ). He grew out of it. Using an xpen and a piddle pad is one solution to the mess. Keep in mind that the younger and smaller they are, the more they have to go during waking hours.

| Princess also pooped in her crate when left during the day for short periods of time. What a mess! My vet finally suggested I just partition her off some where safe, so I started leaving her in the kitchen with the T.V. or music on & she'd never poop. I think it is a nervous thing sometimes.

| I definitely think it's nerves because even if its just a few minutes she does it. She's only 6 months and was probably used to having other dogs around her from the breeder and now she's the only one. I'm sure she'll grow out of it, hopefully sooner rather than later. I tried the kitchen thing and she went crazy! Although then we had just brought her home so maybe it would be better now since she's been here a little bit. I'll let you know how it goes! |

| Gizmo use to poop and pee in his crate (will still pee in it every once in awhile) but it's because he was a BYB/Puppymill dog. One thing that really helped was that we put in there is blanket that he sleeps on at night. He doesn't like to make a mess on his Pooh blanket, so therefore we come home to a clean crate and puppy. We also leave his favorite toy skunk in there as well as a kong with a treat in it. Also, make sure you're making the crate a form of training, i.e. when he goes in put some treats in there. Good luck!! Keep us posted!!

Try the kitchen again, or a bathroom (make sure the toilet seat is DOWN, Yorkies have drowned in toilets ). When you leave, don't make a big fuss. Use key words and phrases that she will learn to recognize like, "I'll be right back" or "I'll be back shortly." The experts say not to make a big deal when you return, but I can't resist. We celebrate. Good luck! Keep us updated. It will all come together with patience and persistence.
