| How often should a yorkie poop. Hi everyone, I just got my little buddy and she is doing some what great with her potty training. My only concern or I guess it's more a question. How many times a day do yorkies poop? I take her out 3 to 4 times a day since she's 4months and she will pee every time. I am just wondering if she should at least poop in the morning and in the evening. This is my first yorkie and I am use to larger dogs so they would poop a lot. I think it's just me any advice would be greatly welcomed, Thanks. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | How often is she going? Generally their system is set on a schedule. I would expect her to go first thing in the am...again in the afternoon and at least once in the evening/night. Figure out the times she is going and plan pottying around those.

| Whenever they need to Seriously though...if you feed a low quality food they will go more...higher quality food and they go less. Gross as it sounds, if you're not seeing any poo and she isn't going when you take her out then make sure she isn't eating it. Last edited by my2boyz; 05-14-2011 at 05:10 AM. |

| Yep.... the higher quality food the less they will poo... I am feeing Riley raw in the mornings and ACANA Kibble, at night. He usually only goes 2 times a day....once in the morning and once in the evening..... and they are very very small... Hope that helps. |

| She will go twice a day but it take her so long sometimes. I guess I have to figure out her timing. It usually takes 30 mins when walking for her to go. As far as food goes I am in the process of weening her off of the low quality food she is on. |

| There are a couple of factors. Her previous experiences with pottying outside, if she has any because she's only 4 months, the food she's on, and what type of interaction she's have at your house. My one suggestion is to make sure you're switching her over to higher quality foods as well as making sure you're on a set schedule for feeding her. Example, Gizmo eats at 7 in the morning and 7 at night. Every one in awhile we deviate in the schedule however that means we'll have to be ready for a change in the pooping schedule.

| Yeah Gizmo is on Innova which is a little bit of a higher protein food which will probably make him poop a little bit more. Anyway, as long as he is poop at least once a day I wouldn't be worried about it. He probably has a little bit of a nervous tummy with all of the changes that are happening. Just keep an eye on him.

| Mine usually goes in the am, and then sometimes if we walk at night he will go again. Quite often it's only once a day and he is on One Beyond and Merrick canned. |

| Princess goes often-up to five times a day, but it's usually a little bit. If I didn't know better, I would think she stretches it out to get more treats.

| I have not seen my little Zeli poop in 2 days! She's in a crate at night and while I'm at work, but my roommate takes her out (and I do in the morning and at night). And on the weekends she's not in the crate at all except at night, and she still hasn't gone in 2 days! She is my first Yorkie too, and I don't know if this is normal. I feed her in the morning but she eats when she wants to, and very slowly. She's on Beneful just because that's what her previous owners fed her and I didn't want to change everything on her at once. I do plan to transition her to a better quality food, but one would think this would actually make her go more! I have not had her very long, so I guess it could still just be anxiety. (She has been to the vet & all's well there.) |
