2 9 week old puppies fighting...help?

Many people sell all breeds of puppies at 8 weeks, sometimes less, with no harm done. I have bred dogs before and many times the mother wanted nothing to do with the pups after she weaned them-usually around 6 weeks!
I bought my Tessa when she was 7 weeks from a private party, not a 'show breeder". No problems ever!!
So why not just help people instead of 'going off'??????

Well I have never soldd two littermates at the same time. It has never come up in my program. However, I have sold later puppies to the same family several times. but one would be older of course than the other one. These two I have now really got into a tussle a few minutes ago. The little poots were really mad too. You should have heard them. it was over a toy. LOL I had to separate them for awhile but usually they just run and play. One is a week older but the same mama raised both of them due to unfortunate situations where the youn ger one's mama rejected him and didn't have any milk either anyway. the other pup was the only one for that mama so it worked out well. And it has only been the past week that mama has potty trained them both to usse the peepad. Any younger and they wouldn't have had a clue.

Lorraine, I know I have talked to you before but I still think that Dandy is just the cutest little guy!!!!!!! Now are the other ones in your avatar his? They are pretty also.

I saw that post earlier this week. I would say that in addition to what the breeder says it is easy to do research on the internet and see who is actually showing - and winning. So while a level of trust has to exist I will still do my research. Seems the term "vetting" has 2 meanings in this scenario.

That is correct. I wish you well in your search for the perfect baby!!!!!! I think there are several good show breeders in your area.

If you are still looking for an answer, my suggestion would be to make sure each pup understands that you are in charge. Here is a link to a few simple exercises that you can do with each puppy to extablish yourself as the pack leader. Hopefully this is just normal puppy play, but incase it is a rivalry for dominance this should help.

Back to the question. I have 2 from the same breeder, not same litter, 2 years age difference. When they are play fighting it sounds like they are killing each other. But they tend to keep their mouths open and make a lot of noise. They have never even come close to hurting one another. Then after playing they are snuggled up together. These 2 use to pick on my other female, Cali, and get her in a corner and I would stop them and Cali would go right back to letting them pick on her. It was her way of playing with them. No one has ever gotten close to getting hurt. They just have different ways of playing together. When not tusseling, they snuggle up together and kiss each others faces. My girls range in age from 3 to 5 1/2 years and they still play like this just not as often. I have no experience with 2 at once from the same litter, but do know they can play rough and it sounds terrible. As long as you can tell no one is getting hurt hopefully they are just playing. I personally wouldn't give up on them unless they are really attacking each other and getting hurt. I bet in time they will be best buddies.

I brought home 2 puppies at the same time. Mine do about the same. When I brought mine home they were 10 and 13 weeks. I had to travel up to get them so one was picked up a little early. I had to work around my work schedule. I was taking time off when I first got them home. :-) Watching them play can be tough sometimes. My girl is much rougher with him. However when she gets too rough she knows it. He will let out a small yelp and turn and give her a small bark or bite. No blood has ever been shed by their playing. But he does get his message accross when she takes it too far. I am right there to step in if needed but I have not had to in months. Like I said he gets his message accross very well.

This is typical and the way it should go. When one yelps the other stops. Just like two boys rough housing with each other. It can look very rough, but if they have been raised properly, when one hollars, the other one stops.

If they were really fighting. There would be blood and they would hold on and not let go.
