| Chewing Almost everything but mostly cords, shoes, etc. Also chasing my cats, that is unacceptable. the chewing is whats bad though. Honestly she is like a child and if she has something in her mouth you should see what it is. I have put away shoes and stuff she can chew but she gets in the garbage and chews paper and leaves it all over the house. Do I put everything up so she cant get it? She is also a "door darter" she will run out the door and not respond to me when I call her. She is slippery and can get out a door in a second. I have to pick her up, if I can, before the door gets opened and put her in the bedroom but she fusses in there. Yorkies are amazing dogs though. Very busy.

| What is your Yorkie age? You shouldn't put everything away, you should make her understand that it's bad to chew on everything she can put her teeth on. Start by saying NO in a firm tone and push her gently away. In a wile she will understand that NO means something negative she have done. When you she that she pass by something without stopping and chewing it praise her. And don't forget to be persistent. It will take a wile but she will get the idea. Then you will be able to start working on the door problem. You will have to put her on a leash and have somebody knocking on your door. Correct her with NO and a gentle pull on the leash upwards. Repetition is the key in training Good luck Maria |

| Also you should know that you must never pick her up to open the door because she will think that every time there is someone at the door and she barks or run to the door, you will pick her up. Maria |

| I broke Raley of chewing and am in the process of doing the same with my daughter's puppy. Never let your puppy out of your sight....and when the chewing begins use a very firm "NO" and give it something that is appopriate to chew on. You can also buy some bitter blast spray that works pretty well. It is probably a teething problem but can turn into a long term problem if you don't correct it to begin with. The key is staying persistent day in and day out! Good luck!

| Puppies are going to chew no matter what...you have to puppy proof your house just like child proofing its for there safety...put all your shoes, hand bags in a closet...buy your baby some chewies for her to chew...if you catch her chewing on something she is not suppose to say NO take it away and give her a chewie and say good girl...if you yell no to her in a loud voice, she might take it as attention good or bad and will never stop cause she wants that attention. and the kittie chasing I would try something like the "leave it" command. and the door thing same thing use the "stay" command...you will have to work with her on these commands daily, it will take sometime but the end results are worth it....use treats while training...when she does what you want her to do tell her she is a good girl and pet her and give her a treat....she will than learn that if she "stays" or if she "leave it" she will be making you happy and gets a reward and thats all our babies want is to make us happy...Good luck

| As stated above no matter what they are going to chew something, they are like babies sticking everything in their mouths, I went through this recently with my almost 14wk old. She would chew our socks, shoes, wires, end tables, etc...you name it, she chewed it. So we started putting our shoes in a different room, taped our cords up on the wall so she couldn't get them, and sprayed 'Bitter YUCK' on the end tables. She now only chews her toys and occasionally she will nibble a toe and that's when we pick her up set her to the side and give her a toy. About the trash put it up also...Silver would get anything out and tear it up so we put it to where she can't get it. She also does the door darting. We haven't got her to fully stop doing it so we stick her on the other side of the baby gate so she can't escape when we are trying to leave. She has the hallway and the bathroom open to her and that way while we're gone we don't have to worry about her getting into stuff she shouldn't be in. Best of luck to you!!

| Well she is about 14 months old. Ive done all the wrong things so far. Ive never had a yorkie before so some of the stuff Ive seen her do is amazing to me. lol I do keep an eye on her. If she's too quiet I look for her and I take things away from her, we've put the cords all up away from her too. I want to give her something to chew on since it seems to make her happy but with most good chew toys like rawhide or something, the bigger dog would steal Holly's as soon as she finished hers. Should you give them something to chew on at all??

| You should give her chew toys but I have read and heard a lot of things about rawhide and if I could find the links I would post them but if someone else has them maybe they could post, but I wouldn't suggest giving rawhide to a yorkie.

She use to run out the door as well...I started telling her to stay when someone would knot on the door or if we were leaving...now she doesn't even go to the door with me anymore when I leave....she still runs up to the door when someone knots but she doesn't go out when I open the door...I have 2 kitties but Bella doesn't chase them at all, they grew up together...there buds...but maybe if you tried the leave it command with her after a while she'll learn what it means and stop chasing the kitties...if she goes to chase them do something to get her attention and say leave it and make her come to you, when she does reward her...same with the door....like I said it will take time, its not gonna happen over night...you will have to work on it everyday...in the end you have a dog that listens to you and very happy kitties LOL
