| Sign Language?? I am deaf myself and when we first got Macy for my birthday. She was 7 weeks old. I started teaching her sign language right away and she got up on it so fast. The signs she knows now are: Eat More Jump Bark Sit Light Treats Walk Outside Potty Bed/Sleep I taught her how to lick my fingers while me doing the I Love You sign. Do you teach your Yorkies/other dogs sign language if you know any??

| What a smart baby! I want to learn sign language. Kaji knows to be quiet if I hold my index finger up to my lip. He knows to calm down if I shake my head. He's just really good about reading body language.

| My sister is an interpreter for the deaf, and she taught my nieces sign language when they were young. They learned to sign before they could talk. I think it's a great idea to teach it to our dogs.

| I was watching something about that on T.V. I think that is fabulous what you are doing with him. Keep up the good work!

| That's amazing! I learned the basics when my sister was hit by a car and now I teach that to my nephew. He is actually getting therapy to help him with it now because he has a hard time with speech development. It's great that your puppy can pick up on it! I use hand gestures with London while I say a command but that's it.

| Our dog trainer had a dog who suddenly went deaf at age 12. The dog was very well trained with hand signals before but the trainer added some signs for further communication and the dog picked it up very fast. It was very impressive.

| I do not know sign language but do use signals with my 2. They know stay, down, come, watch me, touch. I can also tilt my head to say "let's go" .

| I taught my cocker spaniel sign language when she was young. She is 12 years old now and is going deaf. It helps a ton that she knows it already so she isn't being affected a lot by going deaf. She knows.... Sit Come Stay Down Stand Heel Rollover Shake Take a bow (this is everyone's favorite trick) Take (she can take any item that she can pick up in her mouth and I can also sign to her which direction I want her to go) I've never thought of one for going potty. What do you do for that? My border collie also knows some sign language and I am teaching my yorkiepoo as well.

| I don't know sign language, but Levi does know several hand signals for basic commands. I love the idea of teaching signs to dogs.

| I would love to learn sign language for those commands. You all put me to shame, because I was so proud of myself for teaching my lil girl to come follow me just by waving my hand in a "come on" signal. Now you've given me some ideas! I think it is so wonderful that you've taught Macy those signs. They are very smart! Congratulations.

| That's amazing! I've always wanted to learn sign language. I will finally be able to take that class next semester and I'm super excited. I've never thought to teach it to Stormy, but what a fabulous idea! Do you guys happen to know of a website where I can learn the basic commands like sit and so forth in the meantime? |
