| Zack and Zoey are Hospice Pet Therapy certified. You may want to ask the Hospice organizations in your area if they have certification programs. It is so great to see how much joy the dogs (all breeds) bring to the residents who are in nursing homes. A lot of times they will open up and talk when a dog is placed on their lap. Mike's (alaskayorkie) Eddie is also pet therapy cert. You may want to ask him about the process.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Eddie is certified as a therapy dog through the Delta Society. I believe they and TDI are two of the big ones. Delta Society - Improving lives through Service & Therapy animals You might contact some of the obedience schools in your area and see if they have classes and/or testing. Dogs don't HAVE to take classes. All they have to do is pass the test. Then you have to fill out a lot of paperwork online. The CGC wasn't required for Delta Society, but it's definitely a good way to see if your dog is ready for the Delta test. My understanding is TDI requires dogs to pass their CGC. Britster, while having a cuddler is definitely a plus, don't count Jackson out of therapy work. Most of what Eddie and I do is tricks, and the patients/residents love it. I will occasionally put him on a lap, and he tolerates it but doesn't really enjoy it. I keep that to a minimum. He's not the perfect therapy dog, but he pulls it off.
