You might contact some of the obedience schools in your area and see if they have classes and/or testing. Dogs don't HAVE to take classes. All they have to do is pass the test. Then you have to fill out a lot of paperwork online.
The CGC wasn't required for Delta Society, but it's definitely a good way to see if your dog is ready for the Delta test. My understanding is TDI requires dogs to pass their CGC.
Britster, while having a cuddler is definitely a plus, don't count Jackson out of therapy work. Most of what Eddie and I do is tricks, and the patients/residents love it. I will occasionally put him on a lap, and he tolerates it but doesn't really enjoy it. I keep that to a minimum. He's not the perfect therapy dog, but he pulls it off. |
