Pee Pads to Housebreaking My 7 months old Kiwi has been using the pee pad ever since she was born (with her breeder) as well as when I first got her at 2 months. She's doing great on it, with barely any accidents (sometimes she would poop off the pad). Lately though, I've been considering housebreaking her instead of relying on pee pad. Does anyone have any advice how to do it? Should i just move the peepad out of the room? any advice would be appreciated

I had to get rid of the in house pee spot completely to train outside, otherwise Ziva would go outside, play around, than run in to p & p. We couldn't even keep a back up at the door.(i cleaned 2 pee pad spots w/ strong floor soap and enzyme cleaner than blocked those areas off while transitioning to outside)Looking back I guess I waited to long, but she was not good at holding it until 8-9 months, went skidding for the pad. She still has a small capacity ...

From what I understand, you slowly move the pad closer to the door you want your Yorkie to go to when he/she has to go potty. Eventually, move the pad to the spot in the yard where you want your Yorkie to eliminate. It's a slow process, and if there's a mistake, it means you've gone too fast, but it should work. Good luck!

I tried moving the pad slowly, and ziva continued to pee in the same spot anyway, that's when I super cleaned the spots and blocked them off. The only way for us was cold turkey and keeping a really close eye on her, she had already gained free run of the main house(with a peepad at each end)- she was also very sensitive to "no" so I had to be firm but not harsh- it was rough going for a month or so and I actually thought she was never going to get it (my husband was verryy unhappy and not at all helpful .)
