| Need advice. Hi. Maya is 7 months now and paper trained. When I am at work she pees and poops on a newspaper like a good girl, but in the past few weeks she wont stop sherdding the newspaper and when I come home everything is a mess! I dont know how to make her stop because I am not here to see it. On top of that, she flips her water dish on the carpet all the time. Do you think it has something to do with the fact that she is not fixed? Hope someone can help me! Last edited by guliverandmaya; 05-17-2010 at 01:12 PM. |

| Mine would shred paper pee pads too. Yours won't be able to do that with washable pee pads. If you get about five big ones, then use one or two a day and then wash them with bleach and detergent in hot water. Don't know about the water dish. I think i've seen ones that suction to the floor. Or you could get the stand that the dishes sit inside of. She may not be able to knock it over with that. Hope this helps

| Thanks! Great ideas... I will buy the pads. I hope she'll know to pee on it after she was trained on a paper. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'd get away from newspaper - yorkies are notorious for tearing paper to shreds - The Pads may work better for you even though if they get their mind to do it - they can tear those too - but the newspaper is too tempting If I left a paper on my floor it'd be all over the house in seconds - does she have lots of safe chew toys to keep her busy ? |

| so today.... Maya didnt shred the newspaper but I just caught her flipping the water dish on the carpet and then rubbing her nose on it, like she wanted to wash her face or something. Does it mean anything? |

when my Chanel was a tiny puppy - she loved laying in the dog dish of food I had down for my larger dog Tessa (a cocker) ...she'd lay in the dish and play hockey with the food - did the same with water and made such big messes - but it was too cute to ever worry about all you need to worry about is her always having fresh water - specially if you aren't there | |

| My two were pad shredders, so I now use the washable pee pads. I had no trouble switching them over. I just put them down where I usually put the disposable ones. Have you thought about a water bottle for her water? I switched to the bottle when they were getting their beards soaked with water and getting smelly. No water mess anymore, and no wet smelly beards.

| What is a water bottle exactly? That's sound interesting. |
