| Jealousy Is there a way to omit it or do we just have to outlive it? Olive was fine up until we got home. I guess she thinks this is "her" turf. She won't let Treasure have treats or cuddle with me without having a fit. How long will this last and how can I reduce the jealousy? I'm trying to spend equal time and pay equal attention to both but Olive is being mean and making Treasure nervous... Any advice? Thanks! |

| Oh no, I'm so sorry. I got my two at the same time so I haven't had that problem. I'm sure others have better advice than I can give. Maybe reassure Olive and spend a little more time with her. Treasure probably just has to find her place in the pack. I'm sure it will get better.

Our second Yorkie came home a little over 2 months ago and we still have some jealousy issues. The boys are good buddies, but Maximo still doesn't like having to share his people. I made an extra effort this past week to take him out on special trips without his little brother and the extra attention made a big difference.

| My little girl Krystal was 14 months old when I got her two little brother playmates(15 weeks) and the jealousy is still going on. But it has gotten soooooo much better. And the company they provide has been worth all the disent. I did exactly what Olives mommy recommended. Krystal is fed first, greeted first, given treats first. That has helped alot. She is still a jealous little cow. And has days where she is more so, but they play together, chase each other, tug on toys with each other. But I give her extra attention as needed, plus the little boys(Captain Jack and Captain Morgan) can't jump up on furniture like she can so she makes sure she's top dog. I haven't done the special alone trips, but I can see where that would help out too. Good luck, they'll adjust more and more as time goes by. Dion

| Thanks everyone for the advice. I will take it all to heart and try to put Olive first and pay her more attention. I'm hoping that because she's a puppy she'll adjust more quickly than if I had an older dog first and then got a puppy. (I was a little backwards getting a two year old after I already had a 4 month old puppy) The good thing is although Treasure is timid, she does not submit to Olive. She holds her ground and just looks at her like she's a crazy pup, lol. I think they'll be fine eventually. Just this phase will be interesting for a while. |

| Maximo is right on and honostly Treasure (adorable name btw) won't now the difference if Olive is first for everything. I had the same jealousy problems 2x and both lasted about 7-10 days. All three girls love each other so much I could see little hearts floating above their heads when they play...lol. Congratulations on your new addition and I wish you all a quick adjustment period as I know it could be mentally exhausting.

| Although all of mine love to get everything first, Bentley is the little bully. He will push them out of the way or whatever to get them away from me. It has gotten better over time, but I think he will always have that jealous streak. It seems like the more I do first for him, the worse he gets, so now I have him wait till last and that seems to have helped more than anything. (Not that I recommend doing that so quickly with Olive). I am sure a little time will resolve the situation. Good luck!

| No problem. I'm sure we're not the only ones who have gone/are going through this! I'm just worried that Olive won't let Treasure eat She's started following her around the house to watch what she's doing and I hope it doesn't make her nervous. |

Maintain a happy, confident attitude and your dogs will follow your lead. If you show concern or nervousness, your dogs will pick up on it and react to it.

| I don't know if you can do this now that they've both been in the house, but when we got Dany, before we took them in, we gave them a little walk so they were together in neutral territory. When we got home, Dany entered the house before Addie and Mia so Addie and Mia didn't feel the need to defend their territory. You might be able to try it, take them out for a drive, get home and do that. We didn't really have jealousy problems. I put Addie first for everything. She's always been first, she's the "alpha dog" and this keeps the peace. When Mia and Dany are coming at me for attention along with Addie, I make sure to always pet Addie, but switch off for Mia and Dany. Wish I had three arms!
