Do different brands of pee pad make a difference?

I like to use Top Paw from Petsmart. I have tried a few of the others and found them to be too "fluffy". Combine wet, fluffy and ripped (when she gets mad), not a good combination does it make. She still rips the Top Paw but they hold up better and they have tape on the 4 corners so they don't slip around.

You just have to be consistent in her training. For me treats, treats and more treats is what did the trick for her.

My roxy is a stubborn little girl. We have gone through many brand puppy pads. We have tried very expensive ones and cheap ones and she would pick and choose the ones she would use. The only ones she actually likes are the generic Publix brand ones sold at Publix stores. They are very thick and almost quilted. Roxy LOVES them and uses them everytime!!!!!

I also use OUT disposable pads from walmart and they now have a 72 count pack for 16.99. Henry and Izzy seem to like them...I too would like to eventually switch to washable for enviromental reasons...

ROFL thats funny but i have wondered about the washable pads thinking they might think its ok to use my rugs etc or anything cloth...

Actually just like disposable pads, the washable pads require you some training for your dog to use them.

It does not matter if you use pee pads that are disposable or washable. It's kind of like your garden -- if you let your dog go out in the yard and poop whereever he wants, then you will have poop all over your lawn. But if you train your dog to go in one section of the yard, then you wont have to clean up the entire lawn.

So using that analogy, if you put pads in various spots all over your house and your dog does not know where the bathroom is (or thinks the bathroom is wherever), then yes, you will have soiling on your belongings. This would be the case if you use colored pads, white pads, disposible pads, pads with powder inside, etc.

I can only speak for myself - my pads are in designated locations. And my carpets are clean along with my furniture and my bedding.

I don't think so. I think if you make the decision to have you dog eliminate inside, then you run the risk of confusion if you do it without training. This is the case whether you use washables, newspaper, fake grass, real indoor grass, disposibles, pellets, etc.

I can only speak for myself and this is what I tell my customers - For 10 years, my dogs have had bathrooms in the same exact locations in my home. My dogs also go in one spot in the yard. They do not pee on furniture, bedding, throw rugs, bathrugs, or any other textile that finds its way on the floor. I suggest that people positively reinforce their dogs to go in designated locations and not to put pee pads all over the house because that is like opening the back door and letting your dog go anywhere in your garden.

Dogs need rules, even cute ones like yorkies.
