| Will I be able to train him??? Our little Dolce is not doing so good with house training. I take him out each hour. But he has many accidents. He is only 10 weeks old. He will cry if we are in bed to go potty. Well this morning he was crying. Just as I got up to take him. He went pee pee on our comforter. It was fun at 5a..lol My main issue is how to train him to let me know he needs to go outside. I want him to go to the door when he needs to go. We live in a 3 story house. I am thinking that could be the problem. But there is just one flight of stairs to get to the front door. Any tips would be helpful. I just want him to be able to let me know when he needs to go so we won't have anyother accidents |

| He'll get there on his own. always take him out the same door. It will probably be a while til he learns to actually hold it. Our logan is 5 months and he'll go to the door, but a lot times he'll potty there by the door before we get there to let him out. It'll just take patience. You also might wanna limit water in take before bed.

| Thanks!!! I started trying to get him excited about going outside. So maybe that will help also. I have heard small breeds are sometimes hard to fully train. |

| Make sure when he potties outside you have a freakin party and give him a treat right away so he knows he's getting a treat for potting in the right place. People in my community must think I'm nuts because I'm always outside screaming "way to go buddy, way to pee outside, what a good boy you are"

| Remember to be realistic about potty training. They literally have to pee every 10 minutes at that age and don't know ahead of time. You will get to a stage where they know WHERE to go but don't know how to tell you or know far enough ahead of time to let you know. Eventually it all comes together as long as you are consistent. Good luck!

| I agree, Tigger was ten weeks old when we got him and did the same thing. only he's pee'd on our egyptian cotton comforter three or four times, doesn't it just make your day? (sense the sarcasem?!) lol No but seriously, patience, and time and cosistancy will pay off big time. Tigger is now four months old and knows to sit by the door if he needs to go out. How we trained him is ( he's slept with my boyfriend and I since day one.) : we got an industrial strength paper clip and would put his bed between our pillows and get his leash and paper cliped it to the top of our headboard with enough slack that he would only be able to get to the end of his bed but no further. Every time he would move or make a sound we would take him outside and say outside potty and praise him lots while and after he did his duty. Now during the day since my boyfriend and I both work full time jobs, we put down potty pads and he'll usually go on them. but he's funny about it. he uses on pad for pee and somewhere else (usually not on a pad) to go poop. Before we let him have free run of the house, we would gate him up in the kitchen with baby gates at both entrances. But since he started getting smart and getting out we let him just run around. He now sits at the door and will let us know he needs to go out. even if he's just sitting there we've tried to make it a habit of letting him out just to see. I also set the potty pads next to the door so that he associates potty with door. I hope this helps just a little if not more. Good luck. Patience will pay off. also when your dog does go inside, immediatly take your dog outside and use a catch phrase like "outside potty" do this everytime and they'll eventually get what you want them to do as long as you always use the same catch phrase every time you want them to do their duty outside. | Toby is 11 weeks and 1 day today. We have had him since he was 8 weeks and 2 days, and to be honest with you, you just have to be consistent. Toby already 9 times out of 10 goes potty outside. He doesn't let us know if he has to go but we just try to feed him at certain times of the day and we usually know when he has got to go poop. And the other times we just watch him very closely and see if he is sniffing around. They are like children!!! Don't worry a week after we got Toby I had myself a nervous breakdown b/c we paid so much, and I didn't think we would ever be able to get him trained. But he seems to be doing better and better as the weeks go by. It just takes time. Don't quit, your puppy will learn!!! We also put him in a crate when we are not there to teach him to hold himself. Try and be positive. I know that it is hard but I think that they can just since it you know.....
