| Oh man this is just really sad I believe what you are saying and I really do think that you have this puppy. What is going on is just not a proper way to treat or train any puppy. It is not even reasonable to think that a 3, 4 or even 5 month old puppy would be house trained or even left alone for this amount of time. You have so many issues going on with your situation that it is really hard to even break it down to just one thing. I am taking a guess that you are in your early 20's going to school, working a PT job and thought that it would be easy to have a cute little Yorkie puppy. Now it has turned into much more than you anticipated. There is no quick or easy answer to what is going on with you or Scoody. My suggestion would be to try to rehome your little guy because I can tell that there is no way that you are going to be able to get his training and behavior under control. Sometime the most mature and adult action is to step up and take responsibility for a mistake and take appropriate actions to correct your mistake before you continue on a path of psycological destruction of the baby .

| I totally agree with crating...never said not to while training. But it has to be done the right way and he needs his specific play and execise time too. You just need to step back and take a look at his needs along with your own. |

| Boy you are pretty good at the drama...I am guessing over 1/2 the people on here are single and I don't see where anyone suggested because you are single...they are suggesting it because it is cruel.... Why haven't you answered any of our questions?

| [QUOTE=buster84;2847499] This is my first dog, and again i live alone. Again there is no law stating a single person cant own a dog so quit saying im cruel for leaving him in the crate, because they cant afford to stay home all day long with there little puppy. Not everyone can afford to be an at home QUOTE] If you really want help, then you need to realize it REALLY is all about HIM, he is a baby, he did not ask to come into this world. He did not stop you on the street and yell hey you take me home now! You made the choice and if you really want to keep your dog then it is time to grow up and forget the 9 or 14 hrs of sleep sweetie, those days are long gone. Set your alarm, take him out in the middle of the night for starters. That is free, it cost nothing, other than time and commitment. Make sure he has ate an hour or so before bed time, take him out before bed, set your alarm and take him out in the middle of the night. In the morning dont hit snooze, jump up grab your clothes and take him out again. Really it is not the dog who needs trained and I dont say that mean at all, but simply you. You need to rethink the commitment and what you are willing to do to make this work. I bet if you ask your mom what she did for you when she brought you home as a baby you would be shocked of the countless nights of little sleep....how many times she changed you just for you to throw up on your clothes again, changed your diaper just to lay you down to see you soil it again, but I bet not once will she say you were evil and doing this to spite her, instead I bet her reply was you were just being a baby and I was just being your mom.....that is what you have to do for him at this time put him first or be grown up enough to let him go.

| Just a note to all the YT members....you have taken the time to share a lot of really great information for any new puppy owner. I believe this will help someone, sometime. So, thanks. For the OP, I am a single person with an 18 week old Yorkie puppy, a previous dog owner, and a have a Master's Degree in Social Work (ie. I know what it is like to go to school or work and to simultaneously be a pet owner). Given the objections you have voiced to the constructive criticism offered, I believe I am qualified to answer your posts. There are so many concerning issues with your situation, and I don't think you really understand that. Please re-read the suggestions that have been offered and try to see that what you have is not a puppy problem, but an owner problem. You are making the potty training issue personal, to you, but it truly isn't personal. I think this is the way you handle relationships in your life and you are projecting it onto your pet. It's time to try to gain some insight. That will be $65. (wink.)
