| A Strange Phenomenon in Potty Box Peeing.... Hey, I got my "Patch" (a 5 month-old Yorkie-Schnauzer mix) a month ago from a breeder who said Patch's mom (a very intelligent Schnauzer) had trained Patch and his sisters to go potty in a potty box. The weirdest thing...Patch consistently pees and Poos in his box overnight correctly; however, during the day he pees outside of the box (on a vinyl tablecloth) we have in his X-pen. He only has a problem with the peeing as he poops inside the box EVERY time! Has anyone heard of/experienced this?! If so I would be so indebted to you to find out why this is and how I can correct it! FYI - We use the Contour Medium Size Potty Box from Petco with the Hartz Potty Pads. PS - After every pee outside of the box, I cleanup with the Nature's Miracle to eliminate the smell of urine on the tablecloth...in hopes he won't pee there again...but low and behold he does! PLEASE HELP! THANKS A BUNCH! |

| I'm in the midst of pad training Sydney. Some days she goes to the pads on her own, and others she wants to drop her fuzzy little butt where ever she wants. One trick I heard was to put their food and water where you don't want them going. The dog will usually stop. What I would suggest is supervising her while she's in her x-pen. Encourage her to use the box and when she does, praise her like crazy. |

| I think he is probably marking. They tend to do this on any vertical surface that they can. At least he's doing it all in one place. If you can't get him to hit the inside wall instead of the outside wall I would recommend using a washable potty pad under the box. It would be much easier than constantly cleaning the vinyl table cloth and you can wash it in the washer. Good luck!
