How do I stop this behavior? She can usually go on for at least an hour.

When Apple was younger (before she was housebroken), she lived in the kitchen (gated), while I was away at work...After she was housebroken, I let her in the living room/dining room/entry hall and kitchen...One night she started that barking, like a fool, for no apparent reason, and wouldn't stop, when I told her too....So I, toot-sweet, put her and her bed in the kitchen (w/no toys or anything else but food and water) and put the gate up...the next morning I let her out, and I've never heard her bark at night again...Hope this works for you....

She sleeps in the bedroom with me in her crate. She turned one on Saturday. I've had her since she was 12 weeks old. She has been doing this off and on for at least two months. Every time I think that she has stopped (a couple of weeks/days) it starts again. I just want her to sleep through the night and not wake the whole house at one and two in the morning.

Hot Rod started barking at night after I would go up to bed (I have a ritual where he lays on a pillow on me and then I put him in his pen for the night). Well, we have a sprinkler system that goes off at 3:00 am. I don't know if that is it or what but I made the mistake of going downstairs. Of course they learned that and kept doing it. One night hubby went to the top of the stairs and yelled down to tell them to stop. It stopped! Ever since then (2 mos ago) it's only happened a handful of times. so it hasn't totally stopped but has gotten a lot better.

I was actually going to creat a similar post until I saw this one...my Bailey has been acting crazy the last 3 nights & I have not been able to get a good night's sleep. I have 2 yorkies & they are almost 11 mths old (brother/sister). I can't figure out what they deal is & my husband & I are having a VERY difficult time right now. She doesn't bark because she has to go potty, our routine has been the same, she's eating, getting 3 miles of walking each day, and I'm very worried because she just won't sleep through the night. Buster just sleeps on his pillow in the same pen as Bailey, yet she has just been yelping, screaming, crying, barking, etc, to be let out at night. I am so frustrated with her, and I feel horrible because I don't know if she's trying to tell me something & I just don't understand, or if she's really just being a diva & doesn't want to sleep in her pen. She stops whining the second I let her out of the pen & wants to jump up on the sofa & go to sleep. We won't leave them unsupervised though & she has to sleep in her pen...ugh!! I really hope that we can figure out something, because the loud noise tactic (pennies in a bottle, I've made some other noises & have been very stern speaking with her on "No Bark!" has not been working. I am very concerned because my husband & I are starting to argue over her...I don't want her to drive our family apart & am so at a loss right now with what to do. Good luck - if you figure something out, please let me know!

With Jack I found that if I let him sleep in his travel crate in our bed room, he's much quieter. We have a regular wire kennel in our kitchen that he stays in when we're not home, and at first I was trying to get him to also sleep in there at night. Well every morning as soon as the alarm clock went off he'd be up and telling us all about how we should be up too. (he didn't realize we're a 2 minimum snooze button family

)

Anyway, since we've moved him into our bedroom he's been much quieter and lets us snooze to our hearts content. I know many families believe no pets in the bedrooms, so I'm not sure if that would work out for everyone...but it's working so far for us.
