| Can someone PLEASE HELP ME!!!! 2nd Post... I know that I've posted this already but no one seem to help me and I just don't know what to do anymore.... I bought the book How to housebreak your dog in 7 days waste of 8 bucks it was... She already knows how to go on pee pad what I need her to do is to leave her poop alone and I just dont know what to do..... Okay my Roxy is about 8 1/2 months old now... She is a little stubborn/ spoiled/cute/demon/ (did I mention spoiled LOL!!!! ) yorkie... I am having such a hard time with her.. Sometimes I don't know what it is that I am doing wrong. She has the training thing down with the pee and poop on pad. My only concern now is her playing with her poop like its a stuff toy.. I don't know how many toys I have to buy her so she can be entertained. I'm going broke buying all these cleaners and paper towel to clean up after her. She has access to the kitchen and the bedroom.. My apt is really small so there isn't enough room. I would have given her access to the whole house but decided not to because I don't have enough closet space to puppy proof it. And I know that dogs get curious as to what is what LOL!!! Below are pictures of what my kitchen and her gate looks like. When I leave her and if she has to poop OMG I leave for 2 hours and come back I have a HUGE mess.. I'm talking about I'm gagging cleaning it up because its all over the floor and in the grout YUK!!!!!! I am eager to know what you might suggest that I can do for her. Not only does she play with it but if she is up to it she will eat it for that I have tried. Deter I have tried nasty habits I have tried pineapple chunks, juice, hot sauce, pumpkin, EVERYTHING I just don't know what to do anymore. I wanted to crate train her but its pointless because she just poops and pee's in there. Even though its just big enough for her to turn and lay down in. I'm out of options I don't know what to do. I'm going out of my mind and did I mention broke pics 106.jpg The door you see in pic is my bedroom which she has steps to get on and off of the bed..... pics 107.jpg See the discoloring in my moldings thats her boredom as well.. LOL!!!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | How often do you take her outside? You could try taking her out more often and then rewarding her with praise and chicken immediately after going. Also, if you have to leave and really can't take the poo and pee you could put her in the bathroom and cover the floor real good with newspaper and then wee wee pads everywhere. Cleaning the floor real real good with vinegar or bleach will take that smell out so she doesn't return. I was going to suggest pineapple but it looks like she enjoys it...lol. You've probable heard all that before so maybe someone else can help? I'll try and think of other things as well.

| She isn't trained to go outside. I started her off on pee pads but now I want to start to take her out. I work from 7am to 430 or 5pm at times I try really hard to come home at lunch to check on her but sometimes its hard. I have to find a way to control her pooping habits so that she can only poop 2 times a day does that sound normal? Before she would poop in morning and then again at night and now it seems like she poops morning noon and night LOL!!! She's a pooping machine... One thing I do want to do that the book suggested is give her only 15-20 mins to eat and then I'll take her food away usually I'll leave her food in the kitchen with her so she has access to eat all day.... She never eats her breakfast so thats why I leave it but from looks of it. She's gonna have to learn I guess right? Do I sound harsh? I don't wanna be a mean mommy

Thor's Human Donating Member | Can you crate train her, hire a dog walker to come in some days, and commit to taking her out at lunch the other days? It's really hard to train them without a schedule, and the only way to convince her not to play with her poop is to prevent her from having poop to play with.

| Does she do it when you are home or just when she is alone? If she does it when you are home when she poops praise her and then if she goes for it (sticks her nose in it, paws at it, etc.) tell her "leave it." When she does praise her and give her a treat. Then pick it up and dispose of it. This will teach her that its better to leave it because she gets a tastier treat. Thats all I got...but I'm sure others will have more suggestions! |

| Yeah I'm gonna try that.. I tried it when she was younger but she would pee and poop in the crate guess since she was so young but hoping that now she is older she can hold it longer. I wish I could hire a dog walker but times are rough for me and I live alone. So I'm gonna have to come home to take her out. I want to start the training starting Monday that way we can get a full week OR is Sunday better? I need to come up with a schedule to take her out....

Thor's Human Donating Member | Yes, come up with a schedule, and I would start Saturday (if you aren't starting today), so you can have the weekend to set it up. She's going to need to be in her crate almost all the time at first, but after a few weeks, she'll be out and about.

| Now the part that I want to understand about crate training does she need to be in the crate even when I am home? Like for the first couple of weeks is she only allowed to come out when its time for us to go outside and time for play time and food?

| Although you still need to work the training options, I have poop eaters too!! Reaching my wit's end, I talked to the vet. He told me he could sell me some stuff but what he really recommened was Cains Meat Tenderizer. You can get it in the spice isle at the grocery store. It needs to be that brand. After trying pumpkin, pineapple, nasty habit pills, etc., this worked for us. Be sure it is Cains and I would sprinkle it on their evening canned food we serve them. We have done it for several months. It has worked like a charm. It is working to the point that, for various reasons, I have not given them any for a few weeks and we have not had any poop eating!! I don't know if it will help with the playing part, I would think it might but at a $1 or 2, it would be worth a try!! Good Luck!!

Thor's Human Donating Member | It depends... basically, if you actively watching her, she needs to be in the crate, until you know you can trust her to use her pad. She should come running to you afterwards for her treat. In your case, you want to be sure she is not playing with her poo either.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Yes, keep her in the crate if your eyes are not on her. If she starts to go on the floor immediately make a loud annoying sound and then grab her and take her outside...

| I once had Capone trained pretty well on pee pads/litter box but I decided to teach him to go outside and it's much easier, but he will never use it in his x pen unless he's sick. Once I got him to realize its ok to go outside he never uses the house (saved tons on pee pads and carpet cleaning) I think free feeding is making her poop more. I know you said you're on a budget, but maybe you can see if your area has doggie daycare, it's not as expensive as you might think. I give them some of the credit for Capone using the bathroom outside. Good Luck. |
