Default Potty training

Everyone here has given some great ideas, and I may repeat a few of them , sorry.

I agree with changing the feeding to twice a day, 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the evening. I feed dry food only, and one that is hard and good for their teeth, helps to cleen the teeth from the hardness and the shape of the food. Wet food will cling to their teeth and eventually cause problems.

I tried those little pills to keep mine from eating her poop or any other dog's poop we came across in the dog park,(many folks too lazy to clean up after their dogs). Didn't work. We just clean up afterword as fast as possible, so it is not around to tempt and stopped going to the dog park. I learned to teach her to "leave it" when I see her going for something she shouldn't when we go for walks.

I am up very early too, so morning walkies are out for us too. I do let her outside though and I tell her to go pee pee and poop. Then reward her when she does! Lots of praises, and a very special treat that you only give for that purpose!!!

When I get home, on goes her leash and out we go! Again, train her to do her thing, name it as she does it, so one day she will learn to do as you say. I have seen many a show dog being told to go potty outside the building when they are being exercised before going back in to the show ring. So it is possible to do!!!

My dog rarely eats during the day, she mostly eats when she sees me eat. She'll eat a bit at breakfast and the rest at supper.

I do give my dog those raw hide bones, when they get too messy looking or torn up too much, then I throw them out, same with any of her other chewy toys. She loves chewing on them and I give her ones big enough for her to carry , but not small enough to tear up too quickly or swallow easily.

You could just give her one or two toys at a time to chew on during the day. change them out once or twice a week. I wash the squeeky toys on gentle cycle and "hang them out" to dry. I am not sure they make the Automated Kong tossers small enough for a Yorky.

Yes, that schedual will help as well, I have several books that list them, I haven't used the ones in the book,s but don't give up on the train the dog in 7 days, it has several good scheduals and suggestions on how to train your dog, you just have to pick the one that suits you.

There is no magic way,you just have to pick a way that is good for you and keep at it until the dog "gets it" The clicker website has several good ideas too on house training.

I think crate training helps to keep the pee and poop confined away from the rest of the house, but a full bladder and colon, can't be stopped. Regulate what and how much goes in and it will help a lot with how much and when it comes out

If you ever get a pen, get one tall enough to keep your pup from jumping out and I put a large rubber mat,(a long car mat like you'd put in a van) under ours and it confines the mess and makes it easier to clean up. You can always take it outside to hose it down too! You could also use an old vinyl table cloth or shower curtain!

Good luck and keep trying, she 'll learn eventually

look at the top ingredients of your dogs food, the first ingredients should be meat and meat meal, make sure CORN is not in the first 6 ingredients many dogs can not tolerate corn well and they poop more! there are many good dry dog foods out thier that have NO corn in them. I use
Castor & Pollux Natural Ultramix Puppy Formula
you can buy it at petco, Abby really enjoys the real dried fruits and vegetables in it, she picks out the banana chips first.

I have to find a way to control her pooping habits so that she can only poop 2 times a day does that sound normal? Before she would poop in morning and then again at night and now it seems like she poops morning noon and night LOL!!! She's a pooping machine... One thing I do want to do that the book suggested is give her only 15-20 mins to eat and then I'll take her food away usually I'll leave her food in the kitchen with her so she has access to eat all day.... She never eats her breakfast so thats why I leave it but from looks of it. She's gonna have to learn I guess right? Do I sound harsh? I don't wanna be a mean mommy
Okay, so ideally you want her to go outside now, and you do not want her to play with her poop.

Yes, feeding her on schedule will make her poop (pretty much) on schedule.
Then you can schedule it so that she poops only outside (although if you are at work all day and have her in the kitchen with a pee pad, she will probably still go, but that isn't an issue for you, right?).

Feed her like the book says - put it down for fifteen minutes and what she doesn't eat, take up. IF she doesn't eat her breakfast, and has already done her morning poop before you leave for work, then you should be okay (no poop during the day). She will not starve. If she ends up being hungry, then the next day she'll learn to eat her breakfast when you put it down. (This is not mean, this is just a part of training her that food won't be sitting there all day for her to have the buffet.)

Once she does start eating her breakfast, make sure you are feeding her early enough so that she does poop before you leave for work. Teach her to only poop outside (and pick it up immediately afterwards).

So - what you work on is a) feeding on a schedule and then taking her OUT on a schedule afterwords and making sure she poops, and b) making sure she learns that she should only go poop outside.

I know it must be SOOO frustrating, but I think this could be the solution. It may take a week or so (or longer) to get her to realize she needs to eat on the schedule and to figure out how long it takes afterward for her to poop and then to time it so she goes before you leave for work - but once you get that down, you're pretty much in the clear!

She'll probably still pee on the pads during the day, since you should leave her with water and not crate her for that long, but if she is "empty" before you leave her then she'll likely not poop during the day and get a chance to play with it.

Good luck!!

Hi thanks...

I actually started the schedule on the book of How to housebreak your puppy in 7 days.. Today I'm on day 4 so far so good..... The first day she made a mistake in kitchen it was her feeding time and I turned to go to bathroon myself and when I came back she had poopd inside....

On Tuesday she drank so much water because when I took her out at 12:15 to tinkle it was like 90 something degrees out so she drank allot of water. So when I came home at like 4:45 she peed in crate...

So far after that she has been peeing and pooping outside with no problem.... I cross my fingers that she catches on she has actually been eating in the morning she never did before. So I sit with her while its her breakfast feeding time

Its funny cause when its her play time she just take that time to lay on the couch spread out with legs scretched cutest thing.

Default Hi

You're giving Roxy too much space. I started Baylee off by putting him in his crate. He sleeps in his crate as well. They do NOT like to GO where they sleep. So, if you start her in the crate, that may help. Take her out as soon as you come home or as soon as you wake up...
Also Baylee is pad trained. As soon as she goes somewhere she isn't supposed to, take her to the pad. I put his pads by the door, and it's good because it's closer to outside. Try this and let me know if it works. I hope it helps.
